The CEO Gets What He Wants novel Chapter 324

“Oh, it's Nicole! I can't believe we ran into her here!” Cecelia whispered excitedly in Avery's ear.

She loved watching TV dramas and fangirled over celebrities in her free time. Hence, she knew who Nicole was.

Nicole had light but delicate makeup on. Her hair was tied into a neat ponytail, and she wore a casual outfit from a luxurious brand that accentuated her curves. She looked stunning.

Avery didn't know Nicole that well. All she knew was that the latter was a celebrity.

Nicole's character was innocent in the movie, and they had met each other in real life previously. However, they didn't get to interact a lot. When Avery saw Nicole grabbing the same gown she wanted, she shot Nicole a polite smile and released her grasp on the gown.

“Let me take a look at the other designs,” Avery said.

Since Nicole wants this gown, I will pick another one. There are many gowns in this shop, after all.

Alas, Avery had no idea Nicole would interpret her kind act as a provocation.

Nicole was wearing high heels, so she towered above Avery, who was wearing flats. With an arrogant expression, she declared, “All gowns here are haute couture garments. They are only available for sale, not for rent. If you can't afford it, then don't waste your time here. Poor people cannot afford to buy anything here.”

Avery was stunned to see the hostility in Nicole's eyes and to hear the sarcastic words from her lips.

I don't even know Nicole in person. Why is a celebrity like her picking on me?

Cecelia had just taken out her phone to take a few photos of Nicole when she heard her mocking words. At once, her good impression of Nicole went down the drain. Nicole is the opposite of her gentle and innocent character in the movie. Is she showing her true colors now?

“Ms. Lambert, welcome back. We have a batch of new arrival haute couture gowns. They are all unique. I believe you'll find one that you like,” one salesperson immediately said. She was experienced enough to know which customer she should serve.

Nicole was a frequent customer and came from an influential family. Besides, she was also a celebrity. It was normal for the salesperson to serve her warmly when she arrived. The salesperson wasn't that welcoming to Avery as the latter was clad in ordinary clothes.

Nicole seemed to be pleased by the salesperson's flattery. Her gaze landed on Avery as she sneered, “When did your shop start serving customers who dress sloppily?”

Avery furrowed her brows as she gazed at Nicole. She couldn't understand where Nicole's hostility came from.

The salesperson instantly echoed, “Ms. Lambert, just pretend she doesn't exist. What design are you looking for? I have a catalog with me. Do you want to take a look at it?”

Sensing the tense atmosphere between them, Cecelia was mystified. She asked, “Avery, do you know her?”

Avery shook her head. “No, I don't.”

Cecelia's confusion heightened. Avery doesn't know Nicole, so why is the latter acting this way? Or does Nicole look down on ordinary people like us shopping in luxury stores? That's too much!

Nicole sauntered over to Avery and came to a stop. She then sized the latter from head to toe with a criticizing look.

Her lips curled as she stared at Avery as though the woman was an item waiting to be sold.

Her scrutinizing look was extremely uncomfortable.

“Not that impressive,” Nicole sneered. Avery was baffled at her strange comment.

Her patronizing attitude was also unbearable.

“Ms. Lambert, do you know how rude you are?” Avery's expression turned icy.

The disdain in Nicole's eyes grew as she gazed at Avery.

So this is the woman Cayden loves? It turns out she gets provoked and worked up easily.

Nicole was reluctant to admit defeat as she thought she was better than Avery in every way. It baffled her as to why Avery could win Cayden's heart.

Cecelia glared at Nicole and dragged Avery over to another rack of gowns. “Avery, ignore that woman. She must be nuts! Why did she even pick on you? Did she forget she's a celebrity? I can't believe she's that condescending. It takes all sorts of things to make a world, huh? I thought she was as gentle as her character in the movie. It turns out it was just acting. Should we applaud her for her impressive act?”

Nicole's smile froze. Fear gripped her heart when she belatedly realized that she was in the shopping mall.

I was so focused on picking on Avery that I forgot we weren't in my territory. What if someone else recorded me being rude to her?

Back when the video of her yelling at her fans in Dylan's bar was published, she was plagued by the negative publicity that affected her innocent image in public. Her agency immediately launched a crisis management plan and minimized the damage by reacting swiftly. In the end, she managed to get rid of the negative publicity surrounding her.

Even so, her actions left a stain on some of her fans' hearts.

Nicole glanced around the shop, but there were only a few customers picking their gowns some distance away from them. She heaved a sigh of relief at the sight.

When Nicole saw Avery selecting a white gown, she sashayed over to her. “This is Gucci's latest release, so you'll have to work for years before you earn enough money to buy it. You can't afford it, right? Pick any gown, and I'll foot your bill,” she announced haughtily. The contempt in her gaze was evident.

Avery gave a bark of laughter in anger. Before she could say anything, Cecelia snorted. “Why? Are you too rich, Ms. Lambert? We're getting free lunch, so why not? Avery, you should pick a few more gowns. Oh, I need one, too. Ms. Lambert, you're generous, so why don't you pay for my gown, too?”

Nicole spoke in a snobbish tone. “Whatever. Ordinary white-collared workers like you will have to wait till your next life before you can afford to buy haute couture gowns like these. Oh, I'm wrong. Some women love using their faces to seduce men, so they will pay for their purchases. Where is your boyfriend, though? Did you lose his affection already?”

Avery had no idea why Nicole was so hostile, but she felt uncomfortable hearing her supercilious tone.

She looked straight at Nicole.

That was the first time Avery had ever shown off in front of another woman. “My boyfriend is busy, so he doesn't have time to shop with me today. However, he's attentive enough to ask Cecelia to pick a gown with me. He called me earlier and asked me to wait for him after buying a gown as he would be coming to pick me up in his car. Ah, it's frustrating to have such an attentive boyfriend.”

Seeing Avery's exaggerated act, Cecelia covered her lips and giggled out loud.

Avery's words successfully made Nicole's smirk freeze.
