Nicole was about to continue mocking Avery when Cecelia selected a violet gown and handed it to Avery. “Ery, you came here to pick a gown, right? Let's not waste time talking to this crazy lady. Come, you should try this one.”
Cecelia pushed Avery into the changing room and waited aside, flipping through a magazine idly.
The salespeople at the luxury store were extremely attentive. Besides the swanky interior design, they also provided various hot drinks. Cecelia was enjoying her time there. Everything was perfect, except for the condescending salesperson and arrogant Nicole.
A while later, Avery opened the door to the changing room and stepped out.
Having changed into a new gown, Avery looked like a different person. Cecelia could barely hide her awe.
Avery was gorgeous, but she usually wore simple clothes and never put on makeup. Thus, she looked like a university student. Despite her youthful looks, she wasn't eye-catching in a crowd.
After putting on a gown from a luxury brand, she looked more elegant than ever.
The violet gown that Avery tried on was made from the most expensive silk available in the market. She was a sight to behold.
The woman wearing the gown was more attractive than the gown itself.
The violet silk looked stunning against her ivory-white skin. Coupled with her sparkling eyes, she looked like a fairy who had descended to earth.
The back of the gown had a crafty design, for Avery's entire back was revealed. Her exposed skin made her look both innocent and seductive.
Avery glanced at her reflection in the mirror. She couldn't believe that she could look this gorgeous.
Indeed, clothes make the man.
The condescending salesperson's eyes turned as wide as saucers. She had to admit that the gown was a perfect fit for Avery. It was as though it was custom-made for her.
A few customers had tried on this gown previously, but it didn't fit them as well as it fit Avery.
Even Nicole, a veteran in the entertainment industry, couldn't keep her eyes off Avery.
Jealousy rose and festered in her heart at the sight of Avery's gorgeous looks.
Suddenly, a piercing sound belonging to a woman rang out. “Oh, clothes do make a man. I can't believe a country bumpkin can be a princess after putting on expensive clothes. No matter how much she dresses up, she can't hide the fact that she's a country bumpkin!”
Avery turned around and saw Dylan's cousin, Maria Reid.
Maria sauntered over arrogantly, followed by a plump and strong woman with thick brows.
The woman with thick brows tagged behind Maria like a lapdog, holding Maria's shopping bags. Even her neck wasn't spared, as there were also bags hanging from her neck. Everyone gaped incredulously at the sight.
Avery disliked Dylan's cousin.
Cecelia asked deliberately, “Miss, do you allow rude customers entry?”
Maria was upset at Avery as Avery was the reason she got ignored by her cousin.
She instantly vented her anger. “Who are you calling rude?”
Nicole watched their interaction in amusement.
It turns out Avery is unpopular. Who is this punk who appeared out of nowhere? No matter who she is, I'm glad she can humiliate Avery.
Ignoring Maria's retort, Avery whipped out her black card to pay at the counter. “I'd like to pay now, please.”
“Wait a minute. I want the gown she's wearing!” Maria suddenly declared, pointing at the gown Avery wore with an arrogant expression.
“Miss, the gown has been reserved by another customer. Do you want to take a look at the other gowns?” The salesperson flashed a smile and proceeded to introduce other gowns to Maria.
A sneer flitted across Maria's grin as she focused on Avery's dress.
The exquisite and unique gown caught my attention when I came into the store. Besides, Dylan's ex wants it. More the reason for me to get it!
Maria wasn't sure what Dylan and Avery's past relationship was, but she was alarmed after what happened at the parking lot today.
Dylan used to be a playboy, but Maria returned from overseas recently to discover that he did a one-eighty. There were no women surrounding him anymore. Initially, she was inwardly pleased with the discovery, but to her shock, Dylan seemed infatuated with Avery.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have stared at Avery in anguish and ended up leaving Maria behind.
Maria had been obsessed with Dylan since young. If her family hadn't migrated overseas, she would still be tagging behind Dylan now.
This time, I finally got the chance to come back to visit our relatives. I need to make him fall in love with me so he'll marry me.
“Miss, we only have one gown in size S. You have a big frame, so I'm afraid it might not fit you. We have another white gown that will fit you nicely. Do you want to try it on?” The salesperson retrieved another pretty gown from the rack and offered it to Maria.
Alas, Maria shoved her away and declared, “I don't want this gown. I want the one she's wearing! It's expensive, so a poor country bumpkin like her cannot afford it, right?”
Nicole, who was watching the entire incident aside, felt that the punk was a fool.
Didn't she see the black card Avery's holding? It's an exclusive black card with unlimited credit. She can buy the entire store with the card, let alone this gown!
Nicole enjoyed the show silently. Afraid her fans would recognize her, she put on a pair of sunglasses and folded her arms to watch the commotion.
As Avery was targeted, Cecelia wanted to help as she was usually feisty.
To her surprise, Avery glanced at the rude young lady and said icily, “Young lady, didn't your parents teach you to show respect to your elders? You're unreasonable and crass. I think you should return to school and get educated.”
The hint of disdain in Avery's gaze caused Maria to grit her teeth in anger.
Avery was one hundred and sixty-five centimeters tall. As she was wearing high heels, she gave off an intimidating air.
Maria's chest heaved continuously as she shot a look at the young woman with thick brows.
Paying no heed to Maria, Avery swiped her card and paid for her purchase. She then changed back into her clothes.
Avery didn't notice that the inconspicuous young woman with thick brows slipped a necklace into the pocket of her jacket when she wasn't paying attention.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have stared at Avery in anguish and ended up leaving Maria behind.
