Zayne’s expression changed instantly. In just a few quick strides, he reached Entica, and his steady arms caught her before she could collapse 

His usually composed voice carried a rate hint of urgency. “What’s wrong? 

Enrica wealdy shook her head. “I don’t know. My head suddenly started hurting badly, but it’s better now 

Zame frowned, a flicker of concem appearing in his dark eyes. “Have you ever had headaches like this before?” 

She shook her head again. “No, never. Maybe I just haven’t been sleeping well these past few days.” 

Without hesitation, Zayne made a decision. “We’re going to the hospital. I’ll call Lawrence and tell him not to come. ” 

Erica quickly stopped him. “We already made plans. Itysouldn’t be right to cancel now. Besides, it’s late. The doctors are probably off duty anyway.” Zayne opened his mouth to argue but then swallowed his words. After a moment, he relented. “Alright. Let’s head inside first. 

Enrica ha in’t booked a private room. She was frugal by nature, and no matter how much money she had, she wasn’t the type to spend lavishly.

After they had sat down, Zayne stepped away to make a phone call. 

At first, Enrica assumed it was about work, until, ten minutes later, Lawrence arrived with another man 

The man was tall, with gold–rimmed glasses and a calm, observant gaze. After greeting Zayne, he turned to Enrica with interest. “So, this is Ms. Schubert?” 

Zayne shot him a waring glance before tuming to Enrica. “This is my friend, Jackson Fuller. Half a doctor. Let him take a look at you 

Jackson stared at him in disbelief. “Zayne, come on, if you’re trying to make yourself look more masculine, did you have to insult me in the process? Half a doctor?” Zayne cast him a cool, indifferent glance. Jackson immediately shut his mouth. 

After tuming back to Enrica with a bright, charming smile, he said, “Ms. Schubert, don’t listen to him. I’m very good at what I do.” 

Enrica finally realized that Zayne’s earlier phone call must have been to ask Jackson to come over. 

Feeling a little embarrassed, she said, “I’m sorry to trouble you. It’s just a minor issue. I didn’t mean to make you come all this way.” Jackson shot Zayne a teasing glance and sighed dramatically. “Ah, poor judgment in choosing friends… but what can you d 

do? 

Zayne gave him an indifferent look. “If you don’t want to do it, you can leave right now. Just make sure you’re ready to handle the consequences.” Jackson immediately shrank back. Yeah, right. Handle what consequences? Sell the hospital to pay for them? 

Forget it. Zayne had been single for 30 years. His hormones were probably all out of balance by now. Jackson could understand. 

Tuming back to Enrica, he said, “Ms. Schubert, Zayne said you had a sudden headache. Can you describe what it felt like?” 

Enrica quickly answered, “It was like a sharp, stabbing pain at the back of my head, but it only lasted a moment. Now it’s completely gone.”
