Chapter 209
The collision of their lips felt as magical as it always dif. At least to Thalassa. It took her some seconds of moving her lips against Kris’s to realize that he wasn’t responding to her kiss.
She broke the kiss and slowly moved her head back to look at his face. He looked stunned, but other than that, she couldn’t guess what was going through his head.
“I’m sorry,” she whispered, stepping away from him.
Shame burned her face. What had she expected? That he would just agree to be with her again after she deceived him twice?
“I’m sorry.” She repeated, turning to leave to save herself from further embarrassment, but Kris held her back by the arm.
“Kris, I said I’m sorry.” Thalassa said pleadingly while still facing away from him.
“Why are you apologizing?” Kris questioned, confusion mirrored in his voice.
“Because you probably didn’t want me to kiss you and—”
“Didn’t want you to kiss me?” Kris let out an incredulous chuckle before slowly turning her to face him once again. “Lassa, there’s nothing I want more than to be able to kiss you and hold you forever. But…”
He swallowed, his expression dimming. “But it just feels too good to be true.”
Thalassa nodded, slightly lowering her head. “Because I’ve deceived you like this before.”
Kris didn’t agree, but neither did he deny it, making her realize she was right.
He gazed into her eyes. “If this turns out to be just a dream…if this turns out to be a lie, I don’t think my heart could take it.”
His eyes were pleading, filled with uncertainty. Flashing him a small smile, Thalassa cupped his face between her palms, shaking her head.
“It’s not. I promise.” She whispered. “I’m tired of all the resentment and sadness. I want to be happy again. I want to be with you.”
He continued gazing at her expressionlessly for a moment before a wide smile stretched his lips. “Well, then my lips and mouth belong to you. Only you. In fact, my whole body…”
“Oh, shut up.”
Thalassa stole his words by covering his lips with hers once again. This time, his arms swooped around her, pulling her impossibly tighter against him as he kissed her back passionately.
His tongue swooped over her lips, and Thalassa immediately gave him entrance. She didn’t even try to battle his tongue with hers; she just allowed him to ravish her mouth until she was breathless and panting against him, especially when the evidence of his arousal was firmly running against her abdomen.
“Make love to me.” She whispered raspily when they finally broke the kiss for some air. “I need you to make love to me.”
Kris stared at her. “I’m sorry, but…”
Thalassa’s heart sunk. He was going to reject her.
