Chapter 32 

Later that day, Thalassa was in her office reviewing some designs when she heard muffled bickering outside her door. 

“I told you, you can’t just go in,” her secretary Juana said. 

“Get out of my way. 

Thalassa sighed, wondering who she would have to deal with now. Just then, the door burst open, and Karen stormed in. 

“Thalassa, I’m so sorry. I tried to stop Juana began to explain in a panic, but Thalassa calmed her down. 

“It’s okay, Juana. Leave us alone.” 

Juana nodded and walked out, not without glaring at Karen, who looked unapologetic. 

Once the door closed, Thalassa turned to Karen with a smile. “I was wondering when you were going to come to see me. I’m surprised you didn’t come with your accomplice.” 

Karen stared back at her. “You fooled us so well.” 

“Fooled you well?” Thalassa tsked. “I don’t think so. After all, your dear husband recognized me. That’s why he sneaked into my room last night to seek me out.” 

She smirked, enjoying how Karen’s face flashed with anger before she continued. “Or maybe it was you who couldn’t recognize me because you felt too guilty to even consider that it was me.” 

“Guilty?” Karen scoffed. “I have nothing to be guilty for.” 

Thalassa’s smile hardened as she walked around her desk to stand directly in front of Karen. “Are 

you sure about that? How about the fact that you betrayed me when I asked you to tell Kris the truth that his mother was the one who sent me? You were supposed to be my best friend, yet you betrayed me in the worst way possible.” 

Karen shivered, seeing the blatant look of hatred in Thalassa’s eyes, which confirmed that she’d indeed come back for revenge. But maybe if she managed to appeal to Thalassa, then she would spare her. 

“I’m sorry. I didn’t want to do any of those things,” she said. “Linda forced me. She was so determined to get rid of you, and she threatened that if I didn’t help her or exposed her, she was going to destroy me and my family. I couldn’t allow that.” 

After Karen finished speaking, Thalassa could only shake her head in wonder. “And did Linda also force you to have an affair with my husband and marry him after we divorced?” 

Karen opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out. 

“I can’t believe how easily it comes to you to betray the people who trust you. You’re still as despicable as ever, so don’t play innocent. You betrayed me to get me out of the way so that you and Kris could finally be together.” 

Karen finally dropped her innocent mask as she sneered, “knew it. So this is what all this is about! You’re doing all this because Kris chose me over you.” 

Thalassa scoffed. “Believe me, you couldn’t be more mistaken.” 

“No, you can’t fool me, Thalassa,” Karen said, a malicious smile stretching across her face. “It pains you to see. Kris and me together. It pains you that he loves me so much It pains you that he accepted my daughter even though he rejected that bastard you were carrying for me.” 

Chapter 32 

All Thalassa saw was red as she smacked her hand across Karen’s face in a violent slap. 

“Do not ever dare call my child a bastard again!” she raged. ‘Is that clear?” 

Karen held her burning cheek, tears springing to her eyes from the pain. 

“How dare you slap me?” She raised her hand to return the slap, but Thalassa saw it coming. 

Catching Karen’s hand, she threw it to the side before delivering another slap to the same cheek. Karen gasped in pain, but before she could think of what to do, another slap landed on her other cheek. Then another, and another. 

By the time she’d received ten slaps, Karen felt like she was floating. She couldn’t even think because the pain had occupied every cell in her brain. She stumbled back until she couldn’t stand properly and landed on the cold tiled floor. 

Breathing fire, Thalassa walked forward and crouched beside Karen as she hissed, “I know that it was you and Linda who sent that man to attack me on the night Kris and divorced. The two of you killed my baby, and for that, I’m going to be your worst nightmare.”
