Chapter 1115
Only then did Warren steady himself, though his eyes remained closed and his hands were pressed against his forehead.
Under the moonlight, Amelia could only make out Warren’s hauntingly pale face. Even his lips appeared to have a sickly grayish hue. Since she was currently holding and supporting him, she felt his hand, which was unnaturally cold to the touch.
After a while, Warren finally opened his eyes slowly and stood up straight. “I’ll head back now,” he said.
“What’s wrong with you?” Amelia couldn’t help but ask. She sensed that he appeared quite frail, as though he might collapse at any moment, despite standing straight.
“Me?” Warren was momentarily taken aback by the question. Then he forced a smile and replied, “I’m fine.” However, only he himself was aware of the exhaustion weighing down on his body at that moment, making even the simplest of movements feel laborious.
He should have been resting after his blood draw earlier today, but his overwhelming desire to see her had compelled him to come here again.
Even though the concession stand had been closed, the sight of the lights in the room made him feel a little closer to her.
“Are you really okay?” she said suspiciously.
“I’m really fine… I’m really sorry for disturbing you. I… I’ll leave you alone, I swear,” he stammered, his words coming out in fragments. He attempted to open the driver’s seat door but failed the first time, only succeeding on the second try.
Feeling a wave of dizziness again, he shook his head vigorously. As he was about to sit in the driver’s seat, a hand suddenly grabbed his own.
Warren was taken aback and stared at Amelia with a blank expression.
“You can’t drive in this condition!” Amelia exclaimed.
“I… It’s fine. I’m just a bit tired, that’s all. I can still drive,” he insisted.
However, under the moonlight, his face looked even paler than before.
“Come inside with me and have some water first. If you drive alone like

this, something bad might happen,” Amelia urged.
Warren ́was in a trance, only snapping back to reality when he followed Amelia inside the house.
He had really set foot in this place, something he believed he was never qualified to do again.
“My mom and Aiden are already asleep. Keep your voice down. Don’t wake them up,” Amelia whispered as she poured a glass of warm water and handed it to Warren.
Warren accepted the water, allowing it to soothe his throat and warm his stomach, which helped alleviate the cold he felt.
“Thank you for letting me in. I thought you wouldn’t care about me, whether I was alive or dead,” he murmured.
”
“I don’t care,” Amelia replied. “If we didn’t have a child, then whether you lived or died wouldn’t be my concern. But now, at least you are the father of our children. When I was still in school, my father passed away. I don’t want my children to grow up without a father, too.”
“So you want me to live, don’t you?” His eyes glistened as if they were touched by starlight.
For a moment, she felt suffocated. The sparkle in his eyes made it difficult for her to meet his gaze directly, so she responded vaguely, “Whatever suits you.”
“If you want me to live, then I’ll live. No matter how hard it gets, I’ll keep on living!” he declared.
She had believed that she didn’t care about his life at all, and at times. even wished he weren’t in this world. But now, she didn’t want anything bad to befall him. Even though she claimed that it was solely for the children’s sake, it had become a genuine motivation for him to live.
“Call your driver and have him pick you up,” Amelia suggested.
“Okay,” he replied, taking out his phone and dialing the driver’s number.
After ending the call, he heard her voice again. “I heard from the neighbor that you’ve been coming over a lot lately and frequently stopping nearby to look at the concession stand.”
A hint of panic crossed his face, as though he had been caught in the act

of doing something wrong. “I… I just…” He merely wanted to catch another glimpse of her, even if it was just one more time.
“If there’s no specific reason, I hope you won’t do such things again. You might think you haven’t caused any trouble, but in reality, your actions have been a form of disturbance. Our neighbors have already noticed you. They’ll speculate and it may lead to gossip. I don’t want my family to be troubled by such talk,” Amelia explained.
Warren’s face grew paler, and the glass in his hand seemed as though it might slip from his grasp.
Amelia suddenly smiled. “I’m serious, Warren. Just let me be and give yourself a break, too. It’s not right for us to be together. Haven’t you noticed? We’ve known each other for so many years, but the time we’ve spent in genuine happiness is far less than the time we’ve spent in pain. In that case, why should we choose to subject ourselves to more pain?”
Warren tightened his grip on the glass and said, “We were in pain because I didn’t know right from wrong before, and I didn’t appreciate our time together. But I won’t make that mistake again. I’ll do my best to become a good husband and father!” !
