Amelia hesitated for a while and then smiled. “Sure. Let’s eat dinner together. Wait a moment.” After saying that, Amelia informed Matilda and Aiden. Then she grabbed her bag and left the concession stand to follow Alicia into the car. 

Alicia took her to a fancy fondue restaurant. The restaurant targeted wealthy customers and gained popularity online. 

Amelia was impressed by the exquisite decoration inside, which naturally reflected its high price. 

As they were about to order their food, a voice suddenly interrupted, saying, “Hey there, it’s Alicia! What a coincidence! Ryan is here as well. Do you want to say hello to him?” 

Amelia glanced upward, only to discover a middle-aged man in his forties. Although he spoke to Alicia, his eyes remained fixed on her with an inquisitive gaze that made her uncomfortable. 

Alicia stood up and said to Amelia, “Amelia, it’s a coincidence that my partner is also here for dinner today. I’ll go say hello!” Then she left with the middle-aged man and walked towards a nearby private room. 

Alicia returned after some time and said, “Amelia, my partner and his friends are currently dining in the other private room. They have just placed their food order but haven’t started eating yet. It would be great if we could join them since more people means more fun!” 

Amelia replied, “I don’t know those people, and it’s not a good idea to join them. As you know, I don’t like being in lively events. Today, I simply want to have a peaceful meal with you”

“Well, that’s not true. It’s just a meal. I told them I’m bringing you to the private room for dinner. If I say you’re not going now, my partner will be angry, and I will suffer the consequences. I’m not afraid to tell you the truth. He and I are not married. If he is unhappy with me, he can end our relationship anytime. Amelia, I am over 30, and this man is my future.” 

Alicia expressed her sorrow with a pitiful tone. She even went so far as to use her previous acts of kindness in prison to persuade Amelia. Feeling reluctant yet again, Amelia found herself unable to turn down the invitation. Consequently, she nodded and agreed. “All right, I’ll come. But I’m leaving early later. As you know, I am currently pregnant and tend to experience fatigue more readily.” 

“Certainly!” Alicia said with a smile. 

They came to the private room. Amelia looked around the room and noticed four men in a private room. There were also seven sets of plates and cutlery on the table. Three sets were not used but were already on the table. 

“If she and Alicia have two, who will use the other set of plates and cutlery?” Amelia wondered. 

Inexplicably, Amelia had a bad feeling because the four men were staring at her, making her feel trapped and uncomfortable. 

Amelia suspected it was a deliberate plan rather than a random coincidence today. She calmly sat down, keeping her thoughts to herself. 

“Everyone, this is my friend Amelia Haab.” Alicia also introduced them, saying, “Amelia, this is Ryan Golding, my partner. The others are Anthony Waskey, Casper Mabins, and Jasper Yustone.” 

Ryan smiled at Amelia and said, “Alicia has been talking about you quite a lot lately. She mentioned that you and she have been friends for many years. Since we are all gathered here for this meal today, why don’t we take this opportunity to get to know each other? I heard you’re expecting a baby, so I ordered a pregnancy-friendly dessert for you. You should give it a try.” 

Without a doubt, a dessert was presented right in front of Amelia.

At that moment, Alicia echoed, “That’s right, Amelia. Why not invite the father of your child to have a casual meal together?” 

Amelia stood up and rejected, “I don’t think so. Alicia, I’m feeling a little unwell. I’m going back first.”
