The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 278

Chapter 278

Despite his surprise, Noah maintained a smile and replied, “Of course, of course. I believe Dominic would be delighted to meet a fan like her.”

After some more small talk, the director left.

Rosalie was a bit surprised. She hadn’t expected Jonathan to create an opportunity for her to meet Dominic and, well, engage in some star-chasing.

“What’s wrong?” Jonathan looked at her with a slightly puzzled expression. “Are you so thrilled at the idea of taking a photo with Dominic and getting an autograph?”

“It’s happiness, well, not exactly happiness, but…” She stumbled over her words for a moment. She wasn’t thrilled just about the opportunity to meet Dominic, take a photo, and get an autograph. It was Jonathan’s casual gestures that made her feel cherished and protected.

She felt like she mattered, not like a surplus, insignificant person or even the broomstick that family members despised.

“Alright, whatever kind of happiness it is, as long as it’s your wish, I’ll make it come true,” Jonathan whispered, leaning in closer, his eyes almost level with hers. “But the one you love the most must always be me, do you understand? This is something you can never change.”

His voice was magnetic, like a lover’s soft murmur, with a hint of seduction. His eyes, however, burned with passion.

It was as if this casual whisper was a promise, and now he wanted her promise in return.

Rosalie couldn’t help but nod. “Yes.” She thought that the person she loved the most was him for sure. He made her feel cherished and valued in a way she had never experienced before.

He made her understand that in this world, there was someone who held her in such high regard and loved her so deeply.

Jonathan smiled in satisfaction. Meanwhile, sandwiched between the two adults, Aiden tilted his chin upward, his beautiful big eyes filled with curiosity. Clearly, he didn’t understand what the adults were talking about.

However, it felt good to be held by the lady and this gentleman like this. He had seen many other little kids being held like this by their parents.

But usually, he was only held by his mom and grandma.

He had sometimes wondered what it would feel like to be held by his daddy. But his mommy said his daddy had gone to a faraway place in the sky.–

“Where is that place? When I grow up, can I go there and find Daddy?” he wondered.

As Aiden had these thoughts, he had no idea that his daddy was not in the sky and that he would soon meet the latter.

The screening hall for the premiere was quite impressive, with excellent acoustics and seats for the audience more spacious than those in ordinary cinemas.

To make it easier for Aiden to watch the movie, Rosalie decided to let him sit with her in one seat so she could tell the kid about the meaning of the film when needed.

However, when they officially started watching the movie, little Aiden surprised Rosalie beyond her expectations. Surprisingly, he could understand most of the subtitles in the film, with only a few unfamiliar words.

Rosalie was utterly stunned; it seemed that Aiden’s intelligence exceeded her initial expectations.

Although the child could understand the subtitles, he couldn’t grasp many of the film’s contents and only had a basic understanding of the concept of good guys fighting bad guys.

Despite this, he was thoroughly engrossed in the movie.

Seeing this scene, Rosalie finally felt relieved. She had initially been worried that Aiden, being so young, might get bored watching this type of movie. She had even prepared herself to leave the screening hall if he was so bored by the movie that he didn’t want to stay.

But now, it seemed that everything had worked out well for everyone.

Rosalie could now focus most of her attention on the movie.

She had to admit that the film was quite good. The casting was well-suited to the characters, the special effects were impressive, and although the plot was simple, it didn’t feel monotonous.

Besides, Dominic had also broken free from his usual image, making it a significant transformation and acting challenge for him.

However, Rosalie thought Dominic had performed excellently, effectively conveying his character’s emotions.

As she watched the emotional and intense scenes of the movie, tears welled up in Rosalie’s eyes.

The moment she shed her tears, she was surprised by her own reaction. She wasn’t typically someone who cried easily. Even when her friend Lillian cried buckets beside her during a film, she rarely shed a tear herself.

While she could be moved by the movie, she didn’t tend to cry much.

However, this time was different. She was crying. Part of it was due to the movie’s excellent portrayal of emotional scenes, but another part might have been that she saw a reflection of herself in the character on screen.

From ordinary beginnings to the prospect of a brighter future, yet never quite reaching the imagined happy ending, only to be thrust into the darkest depths. Ahead, she had to rely on herself to step by step make her way back to the light.

Though the film conveyed all of this in a humorous manner, the pain resonated with Rosalie, giving her a profound sense of empathy.

Just as she was about to use a tissue to wipe away her tears, a hand had already touched her face.

Long, slender fingers brushed away her tears. “Why are you crying?” Jonathan asked.

“It’s… It’s nothing, the movie is just a bit touching,” Rosalie replied, sniffling.
