The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 398

Chapter 398

If he believed her, he should not have doubted when she swore never to betray him at his father’s memorial hall.

If he believed her, he should know that he was the one she loved in her heart!

If he believed her, he wouldn’t have hidden Wilma’s bracelet and deliberately stopped her from finding out the truth.

Alas, he had no faith in her. At that moment, Rosalie felt as if she were submerged in ice-cold water.

Jonathan pursed his thin lips tightly. He had told himself to trust her, yet when Calvin appeared behind her back like that and when she secretly visited the hospital multiple times for her memory’s sake, he wondered how trustworthy she was.

It felt absolutely horrible..

Her voice sounded once more. “How are we supposed to have a future together when you can’t even trust me? Calvin is…”

“Enough! Stop talking!” He abruptly choked her neck, cutting off her words. “So does this mean that Calvin believes you? Are you implying that you should get together with him instead?”

“Calvin is all she thinks about. Is he a brand that can never be erased from her from her heart?” The thought ran through Jonathan’s head.

Though he repeatedly tried hard to wipe Calvin’s existence from her mind, he never succeeded.

Her slender neck was at the mercy of his fingers; he only needed to exert a little pressure to snap it. However, his hands trembled uncontrollably, so much that his teeth rattled.

If anyone else were to provoke him, he wouldn’t have hesitated to retaliate against them. However, when it came to her, it seemed like he would feel excruciating pain if she were hurt a single bit.

“Jon, do you know what cowardice is? It’s when you can’t even bring yourself to wound someone you loathe the most.”

His father’s voice rang in his mind again.

Jonathan mused, ‘He’s right, I’m indeed a coward.

I still can’t bear to hurt her, even when Calvin is all she cares about!

I thought I was the one in control of everything when she was all along.

She is the dictator of my emotions and even my

life!

Am I going to repeat my father’s fate if this continues?

Since her ties with Calvin can’t be severed, will she return to his side?

I will never allow myself to succumb to the same fate as my father’s! No way in hell!

If deciding to love someone is so agonizing, then I can also choose not to love!’

He released his vise-like grip on Rosalie’s neck and she dropped to the ground in a heap, coughing vigorously. She felt that he had lost control of his emotions just now.

“Jon…” she rasped with much difficulty.

What he said next drained her body of all its heat and caused her to doubt her ears.

“Let’s break up.” She felt as if her blood was frozen by the words his cold voice uttered.

“Break up?” Rosalie raised her head blankly and stared at the person before her.

“Yeah. I’m exhausted.” He calmly met her gaze as if he were a completely different person from who he was mere moments ago. Those eyes that were once full of gentleness were just a bottomless darkness.

He had sealed her from his world completely and forbidden her from coming any closer.

“You’re… exhausted?” she murmured. It seemed like woodenly repeating after him was all Rosalie knew to do.

“Yes. That’s why I’m ending our relationship!”

He was drained. If loving someone was so physically and mentally taxing, and required one to be on pins and needles, he’d

rather not do it.

If Calvin was destined to have a place in her heart, he had no desire for whatever remained. When his father died before his very eyes, he’d sworn never to forsake his life for a woman who betrayed him the way his.

father did.

That never happened in the past nor will it in the future.

Rosalie stood up stiffly. She felt as if Jonathan was out of reach despite him being right in front of her.

She felt so blessed last night when he was so intimate with her. However, all of it seemed so ironic in retrospect.

She wondered, “So he’s breaking up with me just because he’s tired? In that case, what does the relationship we shared mean to him? Was this all a game to him from the start, while I was the only one who took it seriously?”

“What if… I refuse?” Her dignity had been crushed to smithereens by other people when she was incarcerated.

He was the one who helped piece it together bit by bit after she was released from prison.

She was now putting her tattered dignity at stake by saying such a thing.

Rosalie loved him and wasn’t going to give up just like that. She was going in for a last-ditch effort at holding on to what they shared.

“But I don’t want to love you anymore,” he uttered indifferently as he turned away and walked out of the kitchen without any trace of wistfulness.

She was the only one left behind, rooted to the spot in a daze.
