The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 446

Chapter 446

[I’m fine. Callum took me to his mansion for a night off.] Lillian was embarrassed to reveal that she had taken Callum to bed. again.

During breakfast, Callum spoke solemnly, “You’ve done this to me repeatedly. If you dare not take responsibility, you’ll be in big trouble.”

She was left momentarily speechless. Wasn’t it usually the woman who should be more vulnerable to this sort of situation? It felt like it should be her saying those words to him.

“Will you take responsibility?” He stared at her and asked.

“Well… Yes.” She nodded her head under his intense gaze.

Reflecting on the morning’s events, Lillian was once again left speechless but filled with a warm, sweet sensation. The idea of Callum insisting that she take responsibility somehow brought her joy.

After chatting with Rosalie for a while, Lillian put away her phone and turned on the computer in front of her desk to start work.

On the other side, Rosalie put away her phone and looked at the case files on the desk, lost in thought.

“Why did Jonathan come to the bar to find me? What on earth was happening? How could he have known I was there? And that day, I had turned down his offer to be his Rosie again. So, why was he still reentering my life?” she wondered.

She had broken up with him, but the situation after the breakup was different from what she had envisioned.

She had thought that they would cut ties without any contact, but he appeared in front of her again and again

“Forget it!” Rosalie said to herself in her heart. She should be focusing on her work instead of Jonathan.

In the evening, Lawrence requested that Rosalie organize the information regarding the car accident case, with a particular focus on the suspicious aspects.

“Go back to the witness Lucas and reexamine the suspicious details he mentioned in his statement that day, then have him sign it. This is to confirm that the statement is his sincere confession,” Lawrence instructed. “Regarding the police, I’ve already spoken to them. Reopening the case is a challenge right now, but they will dispatch someone for an investigation, which is good news.”

“It is indeed good news!” Rosalie thought. She hoped that the police could find new strong evidence and reopen the case.”

Rosalie sorted out the information and set off for Lucas automotive workshop.

The automotive workshop was quite small and situated in a remote area. Rosalie had to change buses twice to reach it.

Upon her arrival at the automotive workshop, Lucas was engaged in a conversation with one of the staff members. Every now and then, he would gesture toward various parts of a nearby car and use technical terms.

At this moment, Lucas wore a serious expression that was worlds apart from the shy and honest person he used to be. He truly seemed like a director, exuding confidence in his element.

Even ordinary people would be extraordinary in their areas of expertise.

After Lucas finished talking to the staff, he finally realized Rosalie’s presence. He scratched his neck with embarrassment and said, “I… I was so focused on my work that I didn’t notice you coming. Sorry, I… I’ll make you tea!”

Rosalie said, “No need to make tea. I’m not thirsty. Besides, it was me who disturbed you.”

“How can there be no tea to serve a guest?” Lucas invited Rosalie into his office and poured her a cup of tea.

Rosalie looked at this small office. Although it was small and there were a lot of things in it, she could see that Lucas should often stay here. There was also a folding bed in the room.

“It’s a little messy.” Lucas smiled awkwardly.

“This is how one embarks on one’s own entrepreneurial journey. Honestly, I envy people like you who’ve taken the initiative to start their own businesses,” Rosalie said. Initially, she had contemplated launching her own business as well. Her dream was to eventually open her own law firm after gaining valuable experience.

But… But now, she was working as an insignificant assistant.

She could only sigh that life was so unpredictable.

“Take a look at this document. It contains the suspicious details you mentioned. I’ve outlined them in writing, and if everything looks accurate, please sign here,” Rosalie explained, handing Lucas the document.

Before coming here, she had already called Lucas to explain her intention.

Lucas took the document and signed it without hesitation after reading it.

Rosalie took it and signed her name on the paper. When she looked up, she noticed Lucas was looking at her.

“What’s the matter? Is there anything wrong?” she asked.

“You… You must have suffered a lot in…” Rosalie murmured. He didn’t say a word about prison, but Rosalie immediately knew what he meant.

“It’s all over.” She smiled faintly.

It was as though the events of the past had now become inconsequential to her.

However, as he observed her smile, Lucas couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness. When he watched her writing just now, he noticed the knots of her fingers were somewhat different from those of ordinary people. They looked a little unnatural as if she had suffered a severe injury that hadn’t properly healed.

Even her speed of writing was slower than ordinary people.
