Chapter 502
When he stood at the diner’s door and watched the two staring at each other a moment ago, he only felt that the whole world was starting to fall apart.
It was as if a private space was formed between the two, and Calvin was the only one in her eyes. Meanwhile, Jonathan could not get into it and was isolated by them.
“Unfortunately, she will not love you,” Jonathan said, staring at Calvin coldly.
“She won’t love me now, but how can you be sure that she will not fall in love with me in the future?” Calvin responded. Then he said calmly, “Also, Jonathan, in what role do you talk to me like this now? Aren’t you and Rosalie have broken up?”
Jonathan’s expression darkened in an instant.
Calvin continued, “Jonathan, I’ve given you chances. I had given up on her more than once before. Besides, now that it was your choice to break up with Rosalie, I won’t let go of her again this time.”
Jonathan suddenly laughed out of anger. “You won’t let go of her again? Haha! So, are you going to bet on the Gunner family?”
Calvin raised his eyebrows slightly and asked, “Then, are you going to bet on the Youngblood family?”
The two men looked at each other directly, and the air was full of tension.
At that moment, the diner’s owner tremblingly brought up the two dishes Calvin ordered.
Although he did not know who the three people in the diner were, he knew they probably did not come from ordinary backgrounds just looking at the situation where one of them could directly order his men to block the diner’s door.
“Boss, get a bottle of the best white wine here,” Calvin suddenly said.
“Okay, it will be served soon,” the owner answered. He soon brought a bottle of white wine over.
Although it was only a diner, customers would like to order expensive wine occasionally, so the owner stocked some good wine just in case.
However, the wine in the diner was naturally of a different quality and not as good as those Calvin and Jonathan usually drank.
However, Calvin did not care about it. He poured a glass of white wine into his glass and looked at Jonathan. “Have a drink? Speaking of which, I haven’t had a good drink with you for a long time.”
Jonathan’s mouth formed a smile, but it did not reach his eyes. “It’s indeed been a long time since we had a drink together. Let’s take this advantage of today to have some.” Then he took the bottle from Calvin and poured himself a glass of white
wine.
At the small dining table, the two men were toasting and drinking wine one after another. They seemed to drink and talk merrily, but their eyes showed a totally different mood.
Meanwhile, the woman buried her head and kept eating until she finished the food before her. Then she raised her head again, looked at the two men in front of her, and said, “I’m done eating and will go first. You guys continue. I’ll treat you to this meal today.”
Rosalie stood up and walked directly to the diner’s owner. “How much is it?”
“Huh? Oh, it’s 75 dollars,” the owner said. As if he was afraid that Rosalie would suspect him of marking up the price, he quickly added, “That bottle of white wine costs 45 dollars.”
Rosalie directly paid the owner 75 dollars using her phone and then walked out of the diner.
Several men were guarding outside the diner to prevent other guests from entering. Many passers-by looked sideways at the diner as if they were guessing what was happening inside.
Rosalie laughed. In the eyes of ordinary people, it was a big deal to book the whole diner as such temporarily, but for Jonathan and Calvin, it seemed to be a small matter.
Their values and growth experiences were inherently different from those of ordinary people.
As if chewing wax, the food that day was tasteless to her, but… she had never expected to treat the two to a meal one
day.
She wondered how others would feel if they knew that she had treated Jonathan and Calvin, the two top men of Strico, to a meal for 75 dollars.
Rosalie found it was a bit ridiculous when she thought about it.
When Rosalie returned to the rental home, she felt exhausted.
She immediately washed herself up and lay on the bed.
She was so tired, not physically, but mentally.
She had never thought Calvin to say he had fallen in love with her. However, she could not give him any response.
“Even if Calvin really falls in love with me now, who knows what will happen next? What if his love for me only lasts a few months? Or maybe it will take a longer time. A year? Or two?” she thought helplessly.
She did not want to fall in love with someone anymore. She knew how painful it was to fall in love and be abandoned again…
She could pull herself together for the first and second time, but it did not mean she could still pull herself together for the third time.
Rosalie closed her eyes and emptied her mind to let herself think about nothing. She was awakened by a knock on the door when she had fallen asleep.
The knocks sounded a bit urgent. In a daze, Rosalie opened her eyes and walked to the door. “Who is it?” she shouted while looking at the time. It was already over 10 p.m.
“Ms. Leighton, it’s me, Carlos!” Carlos’ voice came from outside
