The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 537

Chapter 537

However, at that moment, no one dared to step forward. They didn’t even have the guts to breathe loudly.

These two were the most influential men in Strico, after all. Approaching them at that moment would be like serving as cannon fodder.

“So what?” Jonathan said coldly.

Rosalie glared at Jonathan. She then turned to support Calvin’s hand, which was broken. “How are you feeling? Does it hurt? Do

you need medical attention? Are there any doctors in the banquet hall?”

She knew that some large banquets would be staffed with medical personnel in case of emergencies.

“I’m okay. It’s just a fracture,” Calvin answered. As he spoke, he reflected on how many years had been since he had experienced the pain of a broken bone.

But it was precisely because Calvin was feeling it now that he could better empathize with Rosalie when all her finger bones were broken back then.

“How much pain did she endure? The pain she went through was probably tenfold or a hundredfold worse than what I’m feeling now,” Calvin said inwardly.

Rosalie looked guilty. She was aware that Calvin’s unwarranted injury had happened because of her.

“There’s nothing ‘okay’ about this! If it doesn’t heal properly, maybe in the future…”

Nevertheless, before Rosalie could finish her sentence, a strong force pulled her into a broad embrace.

Suddenly, her body stiffened. Right after that, she started to struggle. “Jonathan Youngblood! Let go of me!” Rosalie yelled.

However, Jonathan simply lifted her onto his shoulder.

Calvin wanted to stop them, but the bodyguards beside Jonathan swiftly blocked him. Even though there were numerous professional security guards at the banquet, Jonathan had come prepared and did not overlook this detail.

The security guards could not break through the blockade created by the people Jonathan had brought with him.

In urgency, Calvin ignored the pain in his injured wrist and resorted to using his fists.

Since the dangerous incident on the mountain years ago, he had been consciously training his fighting skills. He had done so, hoping he would not be left unable to save himself one day.

No, it was not just for self-defense. Calvin wanted to protect the people he cared about, too.

As a result, everyone witnessed Calvin, who usually appeared aloof and refined, fiercely assaulting others. His entire being exuded a palpable bloodthirsty demeanor.

For a moment, even the professional bodyguards dared not approach him.

“Don’t stop me. Whoever gets in my way today, I’ll ensure they never have a moment’s peace for the rest of their lives. I, Calvin Gunner, am a man of my word! Even with Jonathan protecting you, it’s useless!” His voice was filled with a chilling resolve, sending shivers down everyone’s spines.

At least in that moment, no one would doubt whether Calvin’s words were serious because his expression and already clarified everything.

Right then, the person he had knocked down single-handedly struggled to get up. But Calvin firmly crushed him under his

foot.

Anyone who stood in his way at that moment was his enemy. His ruthlessness was evident when faced with an enemy. However, even so, as Calvin rushed toward Jonathan’s car, the vehicle had already started and was driving away.

It was too late for Calvin to catch up.

His dark eyes were fixed on the departing car. His handsome face was now marked with anxiety and gloom. “Is Jonathan trying to use this method to convey that he could take away anyone he desired?” Calvin thought.

Meanwhile, Rosalie was thrown into the back seat inside the car. Right then, she struggled to sit up. “What are you trying to do, Jonathan?”

“What?” The man sitting beside her chuckled coldly. His beautiful eyes locked onto her. His gaze was cold and intense. It gave Rosalie a feeling that she was in extreme danger.

Rosalie trembled slightly. The next moment, Jonathan suddenly leaned over, his arms pressing on either side of her body, almost imprisoning her within his embrace.

At the same time, a partition slowly rose between the back seat and the front seat. It effectively divided the car’s space. The rear seat which was larger than an ordinary car, immediately turned into a separate space.

A trace of panic flashed in Rosalie’s eyes.

Jonathan’s face slowly approached her. “Is Calvin really that good? Good enough to eagerly put on the gown he prepared for you? You even embraced him.”

At that moment, his face revealed an unbridled jealousy.

Yes, he was jealous. In fact, Jonathan was consumed by an uncontrollable jealousy. He had never experienced such intense jealousy before. Yet, when he saw the photos sent by Rosalie’s bodyguards, whom he had sent to monitor her, Jonathan felt his heart racing.

She wore a purple floral dress and tenderly embraced Calvin. In the photo, Rosalie did not resist the hug in the slightest. One could even say she willingly did it!

“Had she fallen in love with Calvin?” Jonathan wondered. At the thought of that possibility, he felt like jealousy was swallowing him whole.
