Chapter 573
“What on earth was happening?” Rosalie thought.
She rushed toward the door of the lounge almost instinctively. However, as Rosalie reached for the doorknob, her heart
sank.
The door was locked from the outside.
“Was this a setup? Was it Fiona’s doing?” Rosalie wondered.
Joseph’s heavy breathing drew closer, and he lunged toward her…
Outside the lounge, Fiona appeared calm while her makeup artist worked on her. But inside, she was extremely nervous.
She wasn’t sure if things were progressing smoothly.
She had secretly invited Joseph today and laced his drink with drugs. Then, she asked him to hide behind the curtain in the lounge and wait for her.
Her excuse was that her current image needed to be maintained, and she couldn’t afford to be seen associating closely with him. After all, such kind of transaction had to be discreet.
Although there were many loopholes in her story, Joseph still believed it. After all, 10 million dollars was too tempting for
him.
And now, according to Fiona’s plan, once Rosalie entered the lounge, Joseph would almost certainly be affected by the drug. Then, she could bring Calvin over to catch them in the act, not only embarrassing Rosalie completely but also allowing Calvin to deal directly with Joseph. At that point, Joseph wouldn’t be able to threaten her anymore.
More importantly, Calvin wouldn’t be interested in Rosalie after witnessing her engaged in such a compromising situation with another man. A man like Calvin wouldn’t tolerate a woman with such a scandalous reputation.
The Gunner family, in particular, would never accept a woman with such a disgraceful past as well.
Thinking about her cunning plan, Fiona’s lips curled into a smug smile.
Just then, there was some commotion in the set. Fiona’s eyes lit up when she spotted a tall figure approaching her.
Finally, Calvin had arrived, and her show was about to begin.
Fiona had finished her makeup by now. She stepped forward and said, “Calvin, you’re here!”
“Do I really need to watch this scene you’re filming today?” Calvin asked. He didn’t particularly like how Fiona looked now, but he couldn’t forget that she had saved his life once. So, as long as her requests weren’t too unreasonable, he would usually accommodate her.
Fiona replied, “Yes, it’s very important! Your presence here gives me more confidence.” However, she was not referring to the scene that she was about to shoot later.
As Fiona spoke, she tried to reach out for Calvin’s arm, attempting to create an intimate atmosphere in front of others.
However, before her hand could touch Calvin’s arm, he moved away, leaving her hands empty and her posture awkward.
“Fiona, please don’t do anything that could be misinterpreted by others in the future. I simply consider you a childhood. friend,” Calvin said.
Instantly, Fiona felt as though the eyes of those around her were filled with mockery.
Calvin had essentially declared in front of everyone that they were just friends! Right in her presence!
Fiona seethed with anger but managed to force a smile. “Of course…. I understand. By the way, Rosalie is here today. I asked her to wait for me in the lounge. It’s not my turn to shoot yet, so I’ll go see her first.”
After that, Fiona made a move toward the lounge.
“She’s here too?” Calvin was surprised but quickly followed Fiona. He couldn’t stand the thought of not seeing Rosalie.
If he weren’t worried about his pursuit coming on too strong or annoying her, he would have visited her every day!
In these days, he refrained from seeking Rosalie out, hoping she would have the time to collect her emotions. Yet, he battled his inner urge almost every day to go see her.
Fiona couldn’t help but feel pleased. It seemed that everything was going according to her plan.
All she needed to do was push open the door to the lounge, feign surprise, and shout, drawing everyone’s attention to the lounge door. Then, Rosalie would be ruined beyond redemption!
However, as the two of them approached the lounge door, the sound of ambulance sirens filled the mail’s entrance. Paramedics rushed toward them, carrying a stretcher.
“Excuse me, excuse me!” shouted the paramedics as they ran. “Where is the person who took the wrong medication?”
Fiona was dumbfounded. “What was going on? Who had called for paramedics?” she thought.
However, before she could figure things out, police officers pushed through the crowd outside. “We received a report of someone being drugged here. The caller’s name is Rosalie. Do any of you know where she is?”
“She called the police?” Fiona felt petrified!
