Chapter 601
The Bumblebee was not the one Wilma bought for her. Yet, looking at the same model would remind Rosalie of what happened back then and every moment she had with Wilma.
“Granny will always be dear to my heart,” Rosalie thought.
The feeling of bitterness that crept into Calvin’s heart was profound as he looked at Rosalie’s smile. Inwardly, he remarked, “Her feelings for Lucas… No. I don’t think she has any feelings for that man. He’s just her former colleague, I suppose.”
“But why… Why do I still can’t help but overthink about it? I seem to be afraid that the man will hold a special place in her heart,” Calvin continued to muse.
Meanwhile, Fiona secretly observed the happenings in the ward. A calculating glint flashed across her eyes at that.
After leaving Calvin’s ward, Rosalie went to Aiden’s. Lucas was also in Aiden’s ward. The former was playing with Aiden at
the moment.
Sure enough, Aiden liked the Transformers very much. He had been playing with them all that while.
“Oh, right. When will Aiden be discharged?”-Rosalie asked Amelia, who was at the side.
“The day after tomorrow. If everything is all right, he can be discharged from the hospital at noon,” Amelia replied. “Then, I’ll come along at noon the day after tomorrow to pick Aiden up from the hospital,” said Rosalie.
“But it’s a working day. It’ll be inconvenient for you to pick him up,” Amelia said.
“Our firm has a two-hour break at noon. It’s quite convenient for me to come by bus. I can help out if needed,” Rosalie replied.
“I’ll come to pick Aiden up, too,” said Lucas. “I have a car. It will be more convenient if there are many things to carry. The day after tomorrow, I can pick Rosalie up at noon. Then, we can come to the hospital together.”
With that, Amelia did not refuse the duo’s kindness anymore. Gratefully, Amelia uttered, “In that case, thank you.”
After a while, Rosalie was about to go back. Hence, Lucas suggested, “Let me drive you home.” Out of worry that Rosalie would reject him, Lucas added, “It’s just so happened that I’m going the same way.”
“Well… Thank you.” Rosalie smiled.
With that, Lucas drove Rosalie back to her rental home. On the way, Lucas suddenly said, “I… I plan to go on a blind date.” Rosalie was stunned. “Are you going on a blind date?”
“Yes. My relative introduced her to me. She’s 28 years old, specializing in finance,” Lucas responded.
“I hope it works out for you!” Rosalie wished him sincerely.
A look of disappointment crossed Lucas’ eyes as he heard Rosalie’s response. He was trying to gauge her interest for one last time. If Rosalie hesitated, he would make another attempt to win her heart.
Nevertheless, she gave him her blessing without the slightest hint of hesitation.
Smiling, Lucas uttered, “Okay. I hope it works out for me.” Deep down, he told himself that he must work hard to let go of his feelings for her.
Even if they could not be lovers, he hoped they could be friends.
When the car arrived at the entrance of the residential area of Rosalie’s rental home, she got out of the car and headed inside.
Looking at her back, Lucas suddenly unfastened his seat belt and got out of the car. He dashed forward and caught up with her. “Rosalie! I… I hope you can be happy!”
Lucas’ face was slightly reddened when he said that. It was as if he had mustered up all his courage. “I won’t be the one to give you happiness, but I hope you, the women I’ve liked before, can be happy.”
Rosalie looked at the man in front of her in a daze. At that moment, she felt a surge of warmth in her heart.
“Thank you. You… are indeed a good person.” Rosalie had always felt that his simplicity, warmth, and kindness toward people were so precious.
“A good person… I’m a good person, but I’m not someone she’ll like.” Lucas sighed silently at the thought.
“I…” After a pause, Lucas’ face turned redder. He seemed to be hesitating and struggling.
“What’s wrong? If you have anything else to say, you can just tell me,” Rosalie urged.
“I… Can I hug you for a while? Just a short while. Consider it as bidding farewell to my feelings…” Smiling bitterly, Lucas
continued, “Initially, I wanted to say that. But on second thought, you’ve never loved me before. My love has always been
unrequited. It even caused you trouble. So, it seems overboard for me to make such a request-”
Before Lucas could finish his words, Rosalie had already stepped forward and hugged Lucas on her initiative.
Lucas was utterly stunned. His face instantly flushed red like a tomato.
“Lucas, you’re a great person. I think it’s my loss for not falling in love with you. I’m sure you’ll meet someone who really loves you! I, too, want you to be happy, just as you want me to be happy.”
Lucas looked down at the woman embracing him. It was the first time the woman he loved had initiated a hug. It was all to fulfill his wish so that he had no regrets.
