Chapter 659
After the analysis, Rosalie found Jonathan staring at her fixedly.
“What… What are you looking at?” she asked.
“I just think you’re so breathtaking,” Jonathan replied.
Rosalie’s heart beat faster again. She wondered when Jonathan had become so good at sweet-talking and could act so seductively. She wanted to complain that he was the one who was breathtaking instead.
“By the way, do you have any news about Callum?” Rosalie asked after calming down. Lillian would have a second operation in two days, and the doctor also informed them that if Lillian was in good condition after the operation, she would wake up.
If Lillian woke up, Rosalie could not imagine how terrible her friend would feel if she learned the truth.
“Not yet,” Jonathan responded. “The White family doesn’t allow anyone to mention Callum at the moment. They blocked the information about his whereabouts very tightly and only announced to the public that he was missing. Now, all the affairs of the White family are being handled by the first branch of the family for the time being, and all the power that Callum’s original subordinates hold has been removed.”
Upon hearing it, Rosalie could not help but look worried. “Will Callum…”
“He won’t be dead,” Jonathan replied. “If something really happens to Callum, then the first branch of the family should be eager to publish everything so that they can take over all of the White family more smoothly in this way instead of beating around the bushes. They’re doing this now just for fear that Callum will return and seize the power!”
Rosalie breathed a sigh of relief after hearing the explanation.
She thought that was all that mattered as long as Callum was still alive.
During Lillian’s second operation, Rosalie waited outside the operating room with Stephen and Abigail. When the surgery was finally over, she breathed a long sigh of relief after the doctor said everything went well.
“Rosalie, thank you.” Stephen’s and Abigail’s attitudes towards Rosalie had changed completely.
They thought of Rosalie as the savior of the Quinn family.
“Mr. and Mrs. Quinn, don’t mention about it. Lillian has done even more for me,” Rosalie said.
Abigail sighed a long breath. “I don’t know what happened when Lillian went to Callum. Callum is currently missing as well.”
“Maybe when Lillian wakes up, we might get some news about Callum,” Rosalie said.
“I hope so,” Abigail replied while Stephen held his wife’s shoulder and gently patted her to offer comfort. Rosalie also hoped that Callum would show up as soon as possible so that she could figure out what had happened and why Lillian was seriously injured.
On the weekend, Rosalie and Jonathan went to visit Tracy’s grave.
Looking at the black-and-white photo of her mother on the tombstone, Rosalie could not help but sob. In the photo, Tracy smiled gently at Rosalie as if she was happy for her daughter.
“Mom, I’m very happy now. Jon and I are married. I’m pregnant with three babies, too. You can rest assured,” Rosalie said. “When the babies are born later, I’ll bring them with Jon to see you. Mom, if your spirit could hear me, I hope you can bless these three children to be born in this world safely.” Jonathan also added, “Tracy, I will protect Rosalie well. For the rest of my life, I definitely won’t let her suffer the slightest injustice or harm.”
Rosalie seemed a little stunned and turned to look at Jonathan.
“What’s the matter? Am I wrong to say that?” Jonathan asked.

“You’re calling my mother ‘Tracy”?” Rosalie said.
“We’re already married, and your mother’s my mother-in-law, so I should address her in a closer way. Is there anything wrong with calling her that?” Jonathan asked with amusement.
Rosalie thought there was nothing wrong with that, but she always thought that the role of a “mother” seemed to be a forbidden existence for him.
It was because his mother’s existence was a kind of harm to him.
Looking at Rosalie’s wide-open and doubtful eyes, Jonathan sighed softly and bent down to embrace her. He said, “I was abandoned by my mother in the past, so I have always thought that a ‘mother’ represents only hatred for me. I don’t think I could consider someone as a motherly figure in my life or even someone else as my mother-in-law. But Rosalie… It’s you who told me that a ‘mother’ could still give warmth.”
Jonathan gently closed his eyes and leaned his head on Rosalie’s shoulder. He said something to Rosalie that he had never said to anyone else before, “It’s just like you’re a good mother, and your mother is one, too. That’s why you miss her dearly so much. I appreciate very much that she was the one who gave birth to you. If it weren’t for her, I would never have met you in my life! With that, I won’t even get to understand how it feels to love someone.”
Rosalie only felt as if Jonathan’s scent surrounded her, and she seemed to have never been this close to him before. Their distance was so close that Jonathan took the initiative to tell her about his suffering and pain bit by bit.
“Therefore, for me, it’s not only because we’re married that I address your mother in a closer way. More importantly, she’s the mother of the woman I love most in my life. She’s also the person who gave you a life, and it means giving me a second life,” Jonathan murmured. “Rosalie, you’re my second life.” Suddenly, Rosalie’s nose felt tingling. In her heart, some ripples started to emerge, which turned increasingly turbulent and surging.
Jonathan made Rosalie feel pitiful and distressed. At the same time, he also made her want to protect him more and to have him happy and smile.
She had experienced this feeling in the past, and it came back now once again.
