Chapter 724
The man had not the slightest clue about what his next step would be, much less the idea to ask for her forgiveness.
Meanwhile, Amelia and Matilda returned to their residence, and the former dismissed the two bodyguards sent by Jonathan. No longer did she need them guarding her at her place. After all, her house was already quite small. Having them stick around there would only be inappropriate for her.
After the two bodyguards left, Matilda sneakily leaned out of the window and saw Warren’s car parked downstairs right in front of the condominium. Warren himself was standing by the vehicle, facing the building without budging an inch.
A pucker creased Matilda’s forehead on that note. “Just how long is this man going to stand there?”
“Ignore him, Mom. It’s his business should he decide to stand there all day and night. This has nothing to do with us.” Amelia, for one, was calm.
“But why did he suddenly become like this?” Matilda was confused. “Did he know that Irene had a miscarriage just to frame you? Is this why he came all the way here to apologize?”
After all, that video starring Irene had gone viral, so much so that even an elderly like Matilda learned all about it.
“That’s merely one of the reasons. More importantly, he knew I was the one who donated bone marrow to him,” revealed Amelia.
“What did you say?” Matilda was shocked. She gritted her teeth even more on the heels of that. “So, it’s him! I didn’t think that he was that heartless jerk! You donated your bone marrow to save his life, but he was ungrateful to his very savior. To think that he would turn you away now that you needed a liver transplant!”
Thinking of that, Matilda was all ready to storm out the door to settle the score with Warren.
“Mom!” Amelia grabbed her mother and stopped her. “Don’t get angry. I donated bone marrow voluntarily. No one forced me to do so. Now, it’s only fair that the donor agrees to donate their liver willingly. We shouldn’t play the blame game! Besides, even if I had liver transplantation, there was no guarantee that my condition would improve! Maybe after surgery, my body would reject the liver, and I might even end up living a shorter life, not to mention be bedridden for the remaining months.”
She hated Warren, regardless of whether he would donate his liver to her. She purely loathed the fact that Warren had forced her into a corner and even wanted to crush her very last dignity.
At that time, Amelia only felt like she was not even human in the man’s eyes. A

commodity to get on Irene’s and the Fletcher family’s good side was all she was deemed.
“Mom, stay at home to cook dinner, will you? I’ll go pick Aiden up today,”
exhorted Amelia. “I don’t have much time left in this world, so I might as well make it count.”
More than anything, she wanted to spend more time with her mother and son at the last moments.
“But Warren’s still downstairs. If you go downstairs, what if he…” Matilda said worriedly.
“I don’t think he’ll do anything to me. Besides, there are some things we simply can never avoid even if we try. Best if we face them head-on.” said Amelia.
A sigh escaped Matilda. Not another peep came from her.
Amelia, in turn, took her medicine and packed up her things before she went downstairs.
As soon as she walked out of the condominium building, a shiver coursed through Warren as she came into sight. He bolted over and called out, “Amelia, I-”
“Warren York, I thought I made myself clear last time. I’m going to pick Aiden up, so please get out of the way,” were her frosty words.
“I know I made so many mistakes!” Warren’s voice was hoarse. “I know everything. You were innocent in that case back then. You didn’t push Irene down the stairs. I trusted her too much to take her words for it, only to put you in jail. I’m so sorry…”
”
He might have apologized over and over again, but she only felt amused. From her perspective, it was pointless for him to say sorry after ruining her whole life.
“Amelia, you can hit me, scold me, and punish me all you want. But all I really want to do now is to make up for what I did wrong and protect you-”
“Stop talking!” The woman interrupted him suddenly. “How could you be so shameless to say such things? Back then, I told you time and again that I didn’t push Irene, but you never believed me. And you believe me now, you say? You found out that Irene wasn’t the one who saved your life, so you believed that I had been framed. I bet if it were her who donated bone marrow to you, you’d still insist on what Irene said was the hard truth!”
Warren was stumped, and for a moment there, he could not put forward a cutting
retort.
“You’re here to tell me all these, Warren, just to make yourself feel at ease. You threw me behind bars with your own hands. Aiden was born deaf also because I had a cold and fever at that time and was forced to take the cold medicine prohibited during pregnancy. Do you think you can ever make up for my time in prison? Could you possibly grant Aiden normal hearing?”
Her one-after-another interrogation made Warren stagger.

Amelia ended up in prison was purely the end of the man’s revenge. For Amelia, though, it was the beginning of her suffering.
What Warren did not know was that Aiden’s hearing was also connected to her imprisonment.
