The Ceo’s Convict Wife by Jennifer Mike novel Chapter 813

Chapter 813

“That child was about the same age as Jen and Guille, but his circumstances within that family were incredibly challenging. Today, he injured other children, and no one knew what would happen to him,” Rosalie contemplated.

“What’s troubling you? What’s on your mind?” Jonathan’s voice resonated in Rosalie’s ear.

“I was thinking about the boy I saw earlier today, the one who injured others at the restaurant’s amusement area. I’m curious about how his family will react and whether he’ll face any consequences,” she shared. “Why, are you deeply concerned about that child?” he asked.

“Yeah,” she affirmed with a nod. “Perhaps it’s because I noticed a certain expression on his face today, one that reminded me of how you appeared the first time I met you. So, I couldn’t help but feel concerned for him.” “Like me?” Jonathan raised an eyebrow slightly.

“More like the look in his eyes and his demeanor. His

gaze seemed hollow, completely different from what one would expect from a child. But he cares deeply for his sister. Had it not been for the other boy pushing and injuring his sister, he likely wouldn’t have resorted to violence,” she elaborated, sharing her observations.

“Really?” Jonathan responded, his expression subtly shifting. “He has a big sister he cares about, and I… also have a sister I care about.” If he hadn’t met her back then, his life would have taken a different path. He would never have known that loving someone could be like that.

“Since you’re so concerned about this child, I’ll go and talk to the staff. I’ll have them go to the amusement park to locate the child’s family, and mediate the situation so that his family doesn’t make things more difficult for him due to the altercation,” he assured.

Upon hearing that, Rosalie breathed a sigh of relief.

Later that night, after Rosalie had drifted into slumber, Jonathan opened his eyes and sat up slowly, fixating his gaze on her peaceful sleeping form, deep in thought.

“Even if you are my weakness, so what? If there comes a day when someone exploits you to threaten me, I won’t allow you to face it alone, no matter the circumstances,” he murmured as if making a solemn

commitment.

Only the rhythm of her breathing offered a response.

“Perhaps, as you said, it would be best if that day never comes…” His voice had barely trailed off when suddenly his head throbbed as if something flashed through his thoughts.

Jonathan’s body tensed, and what flickered in his mind was a seaside cliff, as though something had plummeted, followed by the sound of his own anguished cries.

“Ah!” He gasped, pressing one hand tightly against his chest. “What was that suffocating sensation I had just experienced?”

His heart raced, its beats unusually rapid. The only solace was that the headache was brief, dissipating swiftly. But at the same time, the image that flashed through his mind was equally swift.

It was so fast that he only caught a fleeting glimpse of the cliff.

But he recognized that cliff. It was the very same cliff where Rosalie had fallen into the sea. Carlos had once mentioned that back then, Rosalie couldn’t come to terms with the events of the past case. Following her departure, she had gone to that very place and, ultimately, tumbled into the sea.

As for the reason why Rosalie had gone there, Carlos and the others were in the dark, and even Rosalie herself had lost that part of her memory.

“Nevertheless, if that cry had emanated from me, it implies… was I also at the seaside during that time? Why did Carlos never mention my presence at the seaside back then? What occurred during those moments? Could Rosalie’s fall into the sea have been a mere accident?” Jonathan’s thoughts were inundated with questions.

“Ms. Sabatini, I’ve obtained the information you asked me to investigate regarding Rosalie’s five years in Lofbury. The results are in, and I’m confident it’s what you are seeking. However, there is an additional cost,” a male voice from the other end of the call conveyed to Agyness.

“What? More money?” Agyness’ mood, which had briefly improved, immediately soured.

“When you tasked me with the investigation earlier, you never disclosed that this individual is the lady of the Youngblood family, Jonathan’s wife! Providing you with this information comes with significant risks. The money you gave me previously is hardly sufficient,” the other party.. explained.

“That sum… of money, it’s a staggering 60,000 dollars!” Agyness silently resented, but she asked, “How much are you asking for?”

“1 million dollars,” came the response from the other end.

Agyness clenched her teeth together so forcefully that they might fracture. 1 million dollars was pure extortion.

“Do you think the information you’re offering is worth 1 million dollars?” Agyness retorted, clearly irritated.

“It’s worth every penny,” replied the individual with a smile. “Ms. Sabatini, your ultimate desire is to oust Rosalie and become the lady of the Youngblood family, isn’t it? The information I can provide is more than enough to secure your success! Being the lady of the Youngblood family and 1 million dollars, which one do you think holds greater importance, Ms. Sabatini? I’m sure you understand.”

Agyness pursed her crimson lips. She did indeed have 1 million dollars. Her social status had skyrocketed over the two years since her daughter was adopted into the Youngblood family as their adopted daughter.

The Youngblood family had merely provided her with a place to live and 40,000 dollars per month. But she leveraged her connections with the Youngblood family and ventured into live-streaming channels. She enlisted socialites to assist in product sales and even engaged in resale businesses through those connections, which can be said to have earned her considerable lucrative deals.

Nevertheless, the Youngblood family had often turned a blind eye to her ventures in the past.

But, after Jonathan publicly announced Rosalie’s identity within the upper-class coterie, those socialites instinctively began to distance. themselves from Agyness upon learning of the development.

Moreover, in the wake of Carlos’ caution at the boutique, several of the business relationships she had established with connections linked to the Youngblood family were severed, compelling her to terminate those
