Chapter 872
He was caught off guard and ended up being tugged by her into the backseat of the car with his body above hers.
Her natural scent, combined with the odor of alcohol, invaded his senses and made him enter a trance-like state.
“Callum… Why did you show up in front of me again?” Lillian murmured.
His body stiffened. She knew that holding him so intimately felt like death by a thousand cuts for Callum.
However, he had no desire to push her away and wished to have her in his arms longer and was willing to endure any pain as long as she wanted to be held by him like this.
“I missed you too much,” Callum said in a low voice. He still answered her, despite knowing that she might forget all about it when she was sober.
“Too much?”
“That’s right.”
“But… Do you have any idea how much I wanted to move on from you?” her voice was choked with sobs, and she began weeping silently.
His eyes darkened. “Of course.” He knew that better than anyone. “I’ll leave after sending you upstairs.”
He was about to get to his feet, but Lillian’s hand was still tightly clenched to his collar, with no sign of letting go. “We… still haven’t gone drinking nor played drinking games together. You also promised to dance for me!”
“I’ll fulfill all that if you can repeat what you just said to me while sober,” he responded.
Lillian grinned widely at him. “I’m… perfectly sober right now.”
Callum’s eyes were stormy. “She wouldn’t be smiling at me in such close quarters if that were true,” he scoffed internally.
“Lillian, let go of me. Otherwise, you will regret it,” said Callum.
“No… way!” she mumbled.
He pursed his lips tight to steel himself before pulling her hand off his collar. He stood once more, intending to carry her out of the car.
She obediently followed him out of the car and leaned against him. However, he was about to bend down to pick her up when she forcefully shoved him back into the car with both hands and pressed her body against his swiftly.
The pair tumbled into the backseat for the second time.
The difference was that their positions were reversed.

“Lillian! Do you have any idea what you’re doing?” Callum chastised. He soon realized that it was a foolish question as she was stoned.
“I do…” she slurred while her fingers stroked his face, sending arrhythmic thrills to
his heart.
“Callum, I want to… let you go for good.” She covered his lips with hers as soon as she finished speaking.
His thoughts were confounded. “Why is she kissing me like that while claiming to want to move on from me?”
“Lillian, what exactly do you want?” he asked hoarsely, responding with fiery passion to her kiss.
Lillian was asleep in the backseat of the car. The hickeys scattered across her body, as well as the lingering odor pervading the air inside the car, silently reminded Callum of what had transpired a while ago.
Callum gazed at Lillian with a complicated expression on his face. It had never occurred to him that he would do something like this with her in such a place. Nonetheless, the way she’d kissed him had chipped away at his self-control. He’d even overlooked the ache in his body.
He loved her so ridiculously much that it was impossible to stop.
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t be able to send her back home anymore. Callum took a deep breath and straightened his clothes before getting back into the driver’s seat and starting the engine.
The black sedan drove slowly away from the residential area as if it had never been there.
Callum drove into his mansion in Strico half an hour later. He carefully carried Lillian indoors and placed her on the bed in his bedroom.
She was sleeping soundly then, the corners of her lips upturned as if she were having a wonderful dream.
Callum wondered if he was in it.
“Lillian, I’m still the one you love, right?” Callum murmured.
It didn’t matter how challenging their future together was, as he would sacrifice everything to carve a path for them, as long as she still loved him.
All she needed to do was to be his source of motivation.
The hushed bedroom in the dead quiet of night felt less cold than usual because of her presence.
Lillian was greeted by an unfamiliar ceiling when she woke up.
“Where is this?” She instinctively made to sit up, but was instantly racked by aches all over her body just from moving slightly.
“This soreness sure feels familiar. Could it be…”
