The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires novel Chapter 1365

“Hey, are we really out of options here?”

Dorothy let out a heavy sigh, leaning back in her chair. “Not exactly. It’s just... I feel like no matter how hard I try, because of my connection to Everett, people will always believe my success is just a reflection of the Lopez Corporation’s shine.”

Karen knew her better than anyone else!

She was well aware that Dorothy would fret over such matters.

First, Karen scoffed dismissively, “You and Everett are in it for the long haul, huh?”

“Of course!”

“So, basically, the whole Lopez empire is yours and Everett’s to command, and eventually, it’ll be Abigail and Langston’s legacy. So, what if your own company basks in the Lopez Corporation’s glow? How does that matter?”

“…”

“Do you think Everett would hand out opportunities to just anyone looking to catch some of that shine?” Karen always had a way of cutting through Dorothy’s insecurities with just a few words, knowing her friend inside and out. “Dorothy, you’ve always been one to overthink things. Has it ever helped, other than causing you unnecessary stress? You and Everett, you’re a team, okay?”

Dorothy wasn’t oblivious to these truths.

But Karen’s words highlighted a disparity in her thoughts, making it hard to ignore.

Because Dorothy genuinely wanted to excel in her business endeavors, not necessarily to outshine the Lopez Corporation but to stand by Everett’s side as his equal, worthy of admiration.

So, Karen’s insights still struck a chord with her.

“Karen, do you ever feel inferior around Jeffrey?”

“Not at all! Me, feel inferior? He was the one on his knees proposing to me! It’s not like I was desperate to marry up. He chose me, so why should I feel inferior?”

She pressed the intercom to summon HR.

“Perdita isn’t working out as my assistant. Transfer her to a less critical position for now and keep an eye on her.”

“Understood, Ms. Sanchez.”

Once HR nodded and left, Dorothy had barely settled back into her work when a commotion outside her office caught her attention.

It sounded like Perdita.

After a brief pause, Dorothy decided to see what was happening.

Outside, Perdita was pointing accusingly at Nyssa, unleashing a tirade, “It had to be you! I ran into you by the stairwell! And right after you reported to Ms. Sanchez, HR notified me about my transfer! What on earth did you tell Ms. Sanchez?!”
