Whenever work ramped up at the office, Dorothy could easily forget about her prenatal appointments.
Thankfully, Everett had them etched in his mind like they were written in stone. As soon as the clock reminded him, he wouldn't miss it for the world!
Right after her meeting wrapped up and she returned to her office, there he was, waiting on the couch with a prenatal visit bag in hand. It contained her maternity handbook, a blood pressure cuff, and more.
“Finished with your meetings, Ms. Sanchez?”
“...Yeah.” Dorothy nodded, catching the playful tone in his voice and giving a small, amused smile, “I totally forgot about it!”
He had reminded her just last night, but come morning, with a minor hiccup in one of the projects, she was all hands on deck and the 9 AM prenatal appointment slipped her mind.
“I’ve rescheduled it for 10:30. We can still make it if we leave now.”
Everett was just worried about her neglecting the prenatal care, not really mad at her.
But...
“Can we possibly move it to tomorrow? I've got a meeting with our partners soon! It's all set.”
When she was pregnant with Abigail and Langston, Dorothy hardly ever made it to her appointments on time. It was usually the clinic calling to remind her before she’d squeeze in a visit.
“No.” Everett frowned, “Nothing is more important than this. If the other party is unhappy, tell them to come to Lopez Corporation and deal with me.”
“...”
With that said, what could Dorothy possibly argue?
After all, she was the one who had convinced Everett to try for this child, promising she’d take care.
...
On the way to the hospital, Dorothy was buried in her phone calls.
She managed to postpone one meeting only for another project to hit a snag!
Leading a company...
Was truly no easy feat.
“Yeah, I want to hear it.”
She was still in the early stages of pregnancy, the baby's heartbeat wasn't distinct enough to be heard at home with an amateur device.
Everett did some research; too many ultrasounds weren’t good for the baby, so the appointments were the only time he could clearly hear the little one's heartbeat.
Dorothy hadn’t thought of that reason.
“Today, I plan to record it.” Every time Everett mentioned their child, his eyes softened with an unmistakable tenderness, “When they’re older, we can play it for them.”
“Everett, next to you, I feel like a lousy mom!”
“It’s good you know.”
Dorothy pouted, “You’re just too concerned!”
“Our child, how could I not be? If we’re having this baby, it’s everything.” Otherwise, he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
