Calvin chuckled, "Hey bro, want me to take over the peeling? I've gotten pretty used to looking after her."
"No need," Miles replied, his slender fingers deftly peeling the shrimp while he calmly admonished Felicity, "Even if you're close, you can't bully your friends by making them wait on you."
She pouted, "He's making it sound way worse than it is…"
Back home in Anglonia, both she and Calvin worked, so it was mostly about him enjoying putting together dinner after work and then cleaning up.
"You should either amend your ways or strive harder," Miles placed the peeled shrimp on a plate in front of her, "Didn't I teach you when you were little not to bully others?"
"I really didn’t!"
Calvin glanced at the peeled shrimp, his lips curving into a smirk. He fished out a shrimp ball from the pot and placed it on her plate too.
"Bro, she doesn't bully others, just me! It's okay, Felicity and I are into this give-and-take. I actually like her bullying me. If she stopped, I'd feel all out of sorts."
Miles lifted his gaze to meet Calvin's.
Though no words were exchanged, their looks were anything but friendly.
Felicity, starving by now, couldn't care less about their dynamics and picked up a shrimp ball with her fork.
"Mmm! Delicious! When it comes to hot pots, nothing beats the ones back home!"
"Here, if you like it, have some more." Calvin's eyes crinkled with a smile as he served her several more.
"And I'll ask the restaurant if we can buy some of the base mix. When we're back in Anglonia, I can make it for you at home."
"Really? Then ask!"
"Consider it done."
As she turned and left, the room was left with the two men.
Calvin sat back down, glancing at the shrimp still in the plate, untouched, and smiled, "So, Felicity mentioned you have a girlfriend?"
"..."
"Maybe we should all have dinner together sometime? My treat, it'd be nice for everyone to meet."
Miles's gaze shifted, his lips barely moving, "That won't be necessary."
Undeterred by any awkwardness, Calvin shrugged, "Alright then, I know my place! Clearly, I'm not in the same league to dine with the son of the CEO of Lopez Corporation. My bad, got ahead of myself there."
"You don't need to say these things here. You and Felicity, it's not going to happen."
"Is it up to you to decide who Felicity marries?" Calvin blinked, a playful smile appearing, "I thought that was for her parents to decide."
