"Huh? Why not?"
"...Just, she can't marry him."
There was a brief pause on Jeffrey's end before he finally got it and said, "Langston, I get it! You have deep feelings for Felicity, so you're worried she'll be mistreated if she gets married, right?"
"I—"
"But you know, Karen has a point. We can't have her staying single forever! Sooner or later, Heather's gotta tie the knot! If we keep being picky and even when we find someone suitable, someone who treats her well, we block the way, what if in the end, she's left with no choices? Wouldn't that harm Felicity?"
His words were clearly influenced by Karen's brainwashing.
"Felicity's still young; there's no rush to get married." Miles struggled to find a reason.
"She's not that young anymore, she's twenty-three! If she finds someone suitable, they could date for a few years, and then getting married would be perfect!"
Perfect? Miles didn't think so at all!
"Mr. Turner, let me have a chat with Felicity about this alone, you and Aunt Karen don't need to worry so much."
"Alright then! I'll leave it in your hands! If you manage to convince Felicity to stay in the country, I owe you a dinner!" Jeffrey laughed a bit, "And hey, if you know any decent guys, good people, feel free to introduce them to Felicity."
"..."
It seemed Karen didn't just brainwash Mr. Turner; she must have pulled out all the stops.
Otherwise, how could someone change their decades-old mindset overnight?
...
Felicity followed Calvin into his room, a suite with a living area outside and the bedroom inside.
Given it was reserved at the request of the boss's daughter, the front desk obviously provided the best available.
"Just got back home, huh? If there's anything you're not used to, any cravings or things you need, just shoot me a WhatsApp! Even if I can't make it, I can order delivery for you!"
"Why bring this up?" She clearly didn't want to delve into this topic.
"I was just wondering..." He intentionally paused, observing Felicity's reaction, "Is there still a chance for you two?"
A chance?
"No chance."
Her response came without hesitation.
"Are you sure?"
Felicity nodded firmly, "I'm not the type to hang on a single tree! He has no romantic feelings for me, why should I force it?"
"How can you be so sure he has no romantic feelings for you?"
"Because, he can afford the plane tickets from Eldorria City to Anglonia."
