Felicity wasn't one for playing games or leaving things in a gray area where people might get the wrong idea about flirting.
Calvin, though a bit too sharp with his words, genuinely cared for her. She didn't want to lead him on.
"Seriously? You're not even going to give me a shot at chasing you?" he teased.
Felicity playfully slapped his back. "Oh, come on, Calvin. Like you're short of admirers! Flash that smile of yours at the airport, and you've got girls lining up to add you on WhatsApp."
"That's true. I am quite the catch! Are you sure you're not reconsidering?"
"Not in the least."
"Alright then, no chance for me to play the lovesick puppy, huh?" Calvin sighed, though his grin didn't fade.
That was just his way; he never made Felicity feel uncomfortable.
"How about we hit the hotel and order some spicy buffalo wings?" she suggested, eyes twinkling. "I've been craving them since we left the States!"
Calvin gave a thumbs-up. "Sure, let's go treat you!"
...
"Mr. Lopez, Mr. Lopez?"
It took Miles's secretary three attempts to snap him out of his daze.
"Yes?"
"This is the report on the smart system development. If there's no issue, could you sign it? We need it for the meeting."
In all his years working alongside him, the secretary had never seen the boss so distracted. If it weren't urgent, he wouldn't have dared to nudge.
Miles took the document, scanned the first few lines, then signed his name at the bottom.
"When's the meeting?"
"Yes." Miles typed a sequence and hit search, causing the screen to flood with errors — a sight that would give anyone a headache, least of all Aurora.
"Here, I got you some pecan tarts as a thank you for last night. I won't keep you," she said, placing the box on his desk and turning to leave.
"Abigail, wait," he suddenly called out.
"Yes? Something else?"
"Give me five more minutes, then I've got something to ask you."
Aurora raised an eyebrow, gestured an OK, and settled on the couch, pulling out her phone to scroll through her WhatsApp.
The chat list looked odd with one less pinned conversation, but she shrugged it off. She'd adjust in time.
After a moment's hesitation, she found Craig's contact, removed him from the blacklist, and then deleted him altogether.
