"..."
In the quiet of her daughter's room, there was just the two of them.
Langston and her. Alone.
Jeffrey barely managed to wrap his head around this piece of news, his words failing him for a whole minute.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke, lips pursed, "Hold on a second! Langston, doesn't he have a girlfriend?"
This almost had Jeffrey doubting his own memory!
"Yeah, but who says you can't switch girlfriends?"
"...Aren't the Lopez folks known for sticking to one partner and not straying?"
Karen glared at him, "Who made that rule, you?"
Jeffrey grimaced, his mind racing with worry.
"No way, Langston already has a girlfriend. Why would our daughter be involved with him?" His concerns about the age-old curse possibly affecting his daughter resurfaced.
"They broke up! He and Esther are done!"
"..."
"Besides, we've known Langston since he was a kid. Wouldn’t you be happy to have him as a son-in-law?"
Jeffrey's lips twitched, struggling to find words.
Somehow, the idea of his daughter marrying Langston seemed odd!
"What if he ends up treating Felicity wrong? How am I supposed to stand up for my daughter then?"
If there was anyone Jeffrey was scared of, aside from Karen, it was Everett!
Becoming in-laws would make it even harder to defend his daughter.
"Does your daughter really need you to stand up for her?" Karen scoffed, dismissing his worry. "From what I saw of Langston walking into that room, oh boy, your daughter has him wrapped around her finger! They might still be sweet-talking as we speak!"
"..."
"Don't worry."
"My main concern is... Langston is one in a million in terms of looks. What if other women set their sights on him? What about Felicity then?"
Not long after Karen dragged Jeffrey away, the company called Miles with an issue only he could solve.
Finally getting him out of the house, Felicity breathed a sigh of relief.
Returning to her bed, she unlocked her phone, still on the movie ticket booking page.
Felicity called Calvin, her feet playfully dangling.
"Up for a movie?"
"Sure! Whatever you want, I'm in," Calvin chuckled from the other end. "What are we watching? I'll book the tickets."
"Anything but horror."
She was one to keep her promises; no horror movies meant no horror movies.
"There's this comedy that's getting good reviews."
"Sounds good, let's go with that."
After hanging up, Felicity scoffed at her phone, "Huh, he can watch movies with Esther but forbids me from going to the movies? That's not happening!"

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
