As if by some strange sixth sense, Miles's gaze suddenly swung in her direction.
She jumped, quickly moving away from the curtain she'd been hiding behind, and made a point of steadying the curtain she'd accidentally shaken.
He didn't see me, did he?
Oh well, whether he saw me or not, it doesn't matter anymore.
With Miles’s temperament, I bet he'll be back to his company business tomorrow, or maybe Esther will pull another stunt, claiming she's on the brink of despair. He won't stick around for long.
I'm pretty sure his trip to Anglonia wasn't even his own idea.
Most likely, it was Abigail’s brilliant suggestion.
...
Back home, at Bay Residence.
Jeffrey had sent the address, but he couldn't help worrying. He made his way over to his best buddy, tearfully voicing his concerns.
"I never wanted Felicity to get involved with Langston! Afraid that with Langston being so outstanding, too many eyes on him would end up hurting my daughter! And look, it's happening just as I feared!"
"That Esther, calling Felicity and playing the sympathy card!" Jeffrey couldn't help but roll his eyes, "Everett, you should've heard her! Acting all innocent and wronged!"
Everett had met Esther before and had seen firsthand how cunning she could be at Langston's company.
He massaged his temples, urging Jeffrey to sit down on the couch and stop pacing around.
"How about this, I'll deal with Esther myself, make sure she doesn't bother you again. What do you think?"
"But even without Esther, it's not like she's the only one after Langston!" At the end of the day, Jeffrey's main concern was Miles's elite status and background.
Felicity was just like her mother.
Everett spread his hands, "So, let them sort it out! Langston can be too old-fashioned. It wouldn't hurt for Felicity to play hard to get, keep him on his toes—"
"Keep who on his toes?"
From the kitchen, Dorothy emerged, carrying a freshly washed fruit platter.
Everett immediately went over to help, "Me! I'm the old-fashioned one, stuck in my ways."
Dorothy glanced at him, then smiled at Jeffrey, "Everett was wrong to pressure you into giving Felicity's address to Langston. Don't worry too much. If Felicity calls saying Langston's causing her any trouble over there, I'll personally go and bring him back!"
"When did I pressure him?" Everett protested, raising an eyebrow, "That was a friendly negotiation!"
Besides, if Langston wasn't pursuing Felicity, but any other girl, he wouldn't have gotten involved.

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
