Felicity couldn't bear the sight of him like this – so desperate and pathetic.
In her mind, he was supposed to be untouchable, a distant, noble figure not meant to be brought down to earth.
But here he was.
"Miles…"
"If you don't agree, I won't return home even after the month is over."
"…"
His words left Felicity with no more excuses to hide behind.
After a long pause, she finally nodded, "I agree."
…
Eldorria City, 10 p.m.
Craig was walking up the stairs with a cigarette dangling from one hand, his brows furrowed as he replied to a message about a shipment.
If he wanted his logistics business to take off, he knew he had to establish good relationships with various factories.
Naturally, wining and dining was part of the job, but luckily for him, two high-end furniture manufacturers had already promised to switch to his logistics company once it was up and running.
Due to the nature of his job, which often required driving long distances, Craig had always steered clear of drinking too much. Just half a bottle of beer could make his head spin.
As he made his way up the steps, he finished sending off a receipt for a completed shipment and returned to the main screen of WhatsApp, suddenly remembering Aurora Lopez hadn't reached out to him all day!
With a click of his tongue, he tossed the cigarette butt away, stamped it out, and dialed her number.
The screen immediately displayed "Fiancée" – a title Aurora had insisted on and forbidden him from changing.
The first call went unanswered.
But he had reached his front door.
Craig unlocked it and dialed again as he stepped inside.
This time the call was answered, but not by Aurora. Instead, a man's voice came through.
"Are you Aurora's boyfriend?"
"Perhaps you could wait here for a moment? Once we get through on the phone, a person in charge from the VIP room will come down to guide you."
What else could Craig do?
He reluctantly agreed and sat down in a chair nearby.
This restaurant was one of the most upscale places in Eldorria City, frequented by the wealthy and influential. Locals often joked that someday, when they made it big, they'd dine at Emerald Grove every day.
Craig wasn't sure how long he had been waiting when his phone finally rang.
It was from Aurora.
"I'm so sorry, I completely forgot I asked you to come! Are you here already?"
It was her male classmate.
Standing up, Craig answered, "I'm here."
"I'll send a waiter down to fetch you."
