Even though things were already tense, the air now was thick with an almost palpable tension.
But it seemed to primarily engulf Duncan, leaving Craig relatively unfazed.
"So, what about it?"
"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" It was clear as day to anyone who wasn't blind. Aurora had been glancing outside every now and then during dinner.
And who was outside? The very man standing before him.
Then, after a quick look at her phone, she had hurried out.
When Duncan looked again, the man was gone, leaving emptiness in his wake.
It wasn't hard to guess who Aurora had gone to see.
"Ha, do I owe you an explanation?"
"Don't you?" Duncan stepped forward, and although he was slightly shorter than Craig, his presence was undeniably strong.
After all, he was a privileged son of a wealthy family, his attire and aura of refinement something Craig couldn't match.
Especially since he was dressed in mere casuals today, a simple tee and jeans.
"If it weren't for your meddling, Aurora might have agreed to date me! Honestly, I can't for the life of me understand why she would choose you!"
Duncan had done his homework on Craig.
A truck driver!
The words "background" seemed almost comical when applied to him.
No background whatsoever.
His father had skipped town leaving debts behind, and his mother was bedridden with a severe illness!
Duncan had assumed that any man worthy of Aurora's affection would at least be a prominent figure in Eldorria City.
If he had lost to such a person, he wouldn't have felt the sting as much.
"You should ask her," Craig wasn't interested in a verbal duel with his rival.
"..."
"Don't you feel humiliated? Just imagine, at your wedding, what will the guests think?"
Besides thinking Aurora had lost her mind, they'd mock Craig for reaching beyond his grasp.
"Done now?"
Craig's jaw worked as he gritted his teeth.
He was holding back, not because he was naturally patient, but because he didn't want Aurora to find out if he resorted to violence. She was pregnant and would be worried.
"Truly a saint." Duncan clapped sarcastically, his tone sharp, "Seems like being broke really does come with a thick skin!"
After saying that, he even dared to pat Craig on the shoulder!
The next second, a howl of pain filled the air.
"Ah—"
