Aurora had been through her fair share of relationships, so she totally understood that rollercoaster of emotions.
“How about this? I’ll just shoot my brother a message every now and then to let him know where we are.”
Felicity waved her hand dismissively, squinting playfully. “Nah, you don’t have to! Sometimes, you gotta keep a guy on his toes. If your brother’s a bit anxious, he’ll keep his mind on me!”
“...You sure know how to handle my brother.”
Aurora gave her a thumbs up. “I’ve got everything ready on my end. Shall we hit the road?”
“Let’s roll! Go!”
Watching Felicity bounce out the door like an excited kid, Aurora couldn’t help but chuckle.
Honestly, as his sister, Aurora never expected her brother to fall for someone as lively and mischievous as Felicity. She always imagined he’d end up with someone more serene and gentle.
But hey, life’s full of surprises!
Like how she never expected to meet Craig, and certainly didn’t see their story ending in divorce.
...
On the highway, Aurora was behind the wheel.
At first, Felicity was humming along to the music playing in the car, but soon her curiosity got the better of her.
“Aurora, mind if I ask you something?”
Aurora glanced at her with a raised eyebrow. “Why the formality? Just go ahead and ask.”
But before Felicity could say a word, Aurora interjected, “If it’s about my ex-husband, let’s just skip it.”
Life was pretty good now, and the last thing Aurora wanted was to revisit anything related to Craig.
Ideally... they’d never cross paths again.
She’d once thrown herself into love with all her heart, only for it to end in disaster. Why would she risk that again now?
She couldn’t offer anyone her true feelings, nor did she want to plan a future with another man.
Aurora found it all to be a fantasy.
Now, her world was filled with her son, her art studio, and her family. That was all she needed.
Anything else felt like too much.
“So... are you saying you’ll never find another boyfriend?” Felicity asked tentatively.
“Absolutely,” Aurora replied without hesitation.
“Aurora, you must have been really hurt by him! You’re not... you’re not still in love with him, are you?”
She laughed softly. “No way. Craig’s already got a new girlfriend.”
