"I have a burning question." Jeffrey glanced at his sleeping buddy, Langston. "Are you sure that kid Dorothy had is a girl? Not a boy?"
"It's a girl. I've seen her."
"Are you sure? Could it be that he was so pretty that you mistook her for a girl?"
Lane wasn't sure why Jeffrey was asking, but he knew for sure that Dorothy had a girl.
"No way. Do you think I'm an idiot?"

He was worried that something he said might have given Jeffrey a clue.
"Not much. I just realized that Everett might have a secret child."
Jeffrey's careless remark made Lane's heart skip a beat. "How... how could that be? Isn't Mr. Lopez a very disciplined man? He's never been involved in any scandals in the business world, so where would a secret child come from?"
"I would have said the same before seeing that kid. I know Everett very well. But after seeing that child, I had no doubts that he was Everett's." The resemblance was uncanny.
"Did you see the child?"
"Yes. He is right next to me."
"You're right, but I'm still surprised that he would... you know, with other women..." Jeffrey grimaced. "Guess love is a lie. I'll stick to the game of life. I don't understand adult games."

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
The children's stories are si boring. This book is like torture. I've put in so much time I have to see this through but it's becoming more difficult....
