"Mr. Lopez?!"
Before Dorothy could react, Karen behind her had already blurted out a deafening question.
Everett's sudden appearance here was as unbelievable as hitting the lottery jackpot.
Without even turning her head, she could imagine Karen's expression right now.
A hefty interrogation from her was inevitable, so Dorothy quickly put on a very professional office smile and briskly walked to the car.
"Mr. Lopez, is there something work-related you need?"
Everett gave a cold glance to the person behind her without exposing anything further. "Get in the car."
"Alright."
Dorothy quickly nodded, then turned to Karen and waved. "I've got something to take care of. I’ve gotta bounce. We'll catch up next week."
Taking advantage of the situation before it could escalate, she quickly hopped in the car.
Throughout the ride, both of them remained silent. The atmosphere in the car was somewhat weird. But when it came to figuring out why, Dorothy had no clue.
Could it be because he didn't sleep well last night?
As they were about to reach the supermarket, Dorothy broke the silence. "I haven't done my grocery shopping yet. Could you pull over?"
Everett kept his lips tightly sealed, but he did drive into the underground parking lot of the supermarket.
Just as Dorothy was about to get out of the car, he suddenly grabbed her wrist.
"Who was that person just now?"
Just now?
"That's my friend, Karen. We work together at the Prosperity Consortium."
So, he should know now how serious it was to suddenly shout out her name on the street.
Especially since Karen was a big blabbermouth.
But clearly, Everett's attention was elsewhere. "The guy?"
...
The weekend flew by, and finally, it was Dorothy's first day at the head office.
Early in the morning, she made sure to freshen up, put on her professional attire, and double-check everything she needed to bring.
"Let's go." At the entrance, Everett was already suited and booted. He was always impeccable, even at home. His every move exuded elegance and refinement.
She was holding her laptop bag, stunned. "I can take the subway."
If people saw her getting out of the CEO's car, it would cause quite a stir.
"My car parks directly in a private spot. No one will see."
"There's no need. I should get familiar with the subway route."
"I don't want to repeat myself."
His tone was getting even more commanding.

Why didn't Jeffrey call Everett from the office? Lock his door instruct security to not let anyone in and speak to Everett on the phone? Or send him a text giving him a quick summary of what's up and that he's on his way over. That way when he runs into Heather on his way out he informs her Everett already knows....
