When it's your time, there's no coming back. No do-overs, even if your heart aches with regret.
"Alright," Everett replied, his tone subdued, clearly not in the mood for conversation.
Dorothy didn't press him further. After hanging up, she texted Kevin, asking him to drop off some extra clothes for Everett at the hospital. The emergency room's chill could seep into your bones, necessitating layers more than usual.
...
Everett didn't come home that night.
Dorothy ended up crashing on the couch until the early hours.
The next morning, she was jolted awake by the doorbell - Kevin had come to take Abigail and Langston to school.
Without Everett, her nights were restless, sleep only claiming her in the wee hours.
"Thanks for this, Kevin," she said as she handed over the kids.
"No problem at all. I'm here to assist Mr. Lopez in any way I can."
"By the way, I'm headed to a due diligence meeting this morning, so I won't be back at the office. Call me if you need anything! And... if there's any news from Everett at the hospital, could you let me know?" Dorothy knew it was a big ask for Kevin, but reaching out to Everett directly might make him overthink things. She just wanted to stay informed, nothing more.
Kevin, sharp as ever, caught on immediately and agreed to keep her posted.
"Don't worry, Mr. Lopez will be fine! When I dropped off the clothes yesterday, and he knew it was you who sent them, he even cracked a smile!"
Seems like Dorothy's the only one who can lift Everett's spirits.

The readers' comments on the novel: The CEO's Hidden Love: Midnight Temptations and Deep Desires
Sometimes Karen can be such a drama queen and immature....
For some reason I am now feeling suspicious about Kevin's new girlfriend....
I really hope this Perdita person is not a new villain....
I too echoed the sentiments of pppplllleeeaaaassssseeeeee bring this drama to an end. I beg of you!...
Really please finish this book and upload the full story so it can end. It's been drugout for so long!...
The intimate scenes in this story or uncomfortable to read. They either come off as being forced, painful, or simply not enjoyable....
Okay I left a long while ago and came back. Looks like it's been updated but still not done lol. I'll maybe wait 6 months before coming back and it'll probably still be going on. It's like a soap opera instead of a novel...
Kenneth is confirming something I've been thinking about him for several hundred chapters ago and that is he is a future murder suicide perpetrator. And after reading chapter 1275 yeah it's just brought the thought back....
How could Jeffrey throw the knife down at the scene of the crime with both their fingerprints on there?...
Again no update, so is this where it ends? Or post the whole book. Your dragging this out...
