The CEO's Return (Tracy and Alex) novel Chapter 40

Tracy

Time passed by and for over a month nothing appeared in front of our door, no text message from Nora, absolutely nothing.

Alex and James were worried so they went searching for Nora, but when they asked people, they were told Nora left Philadelphia over a month ago, it was suspicious and weird but after asking a lot of people they kept giving the same answers.

Myself, Alex, and James decided to talk things through before concluding on anything.

"James would be here in an hour," Alex said from the sitting room.

"That's why I'm preparing lunch already," I replied from the kitchen, he came into the kitchen

"What are you making?" He said lifting the grilled corn beef on a plate.

"Reuben sandwich."

"Sweet!, Let me help you with that." He said and I nodded, we did it together and we were very fast about it, we made lemonade for us and orange juice for the kids.

James came in a few minutes after we've set the table so we called the kids to join us at the dining, we ate lunch, we let the children play by themselves while we talked in the sitting room.

"Any luck with finding her?" Alex asked and James shook his head, my heart sank.

"I even went to the hotel she stayed at when she got back here, I was told she checked out a day after she arrived."

"Could it be that she left?" I asked and Alex sighed

"I'm not sure if she had left a day after she arrived then how did she go to the kid's school? How did she send that package?" Alex asked and I nodded.

"That is true, so what are we going to do?" I asked tired of the whole thing

"It's been over ao month and nothing has happened, yes we can't let out guards but for now I think you can back to living your normal regular life, the guards would still be around of course," James said and we nodded in agreement.

"I agree, this CEO has been home for way too long," Alex said and James made the barfing face and I laughed

"Wait, what is that supposed to mean?"

"Nothing!" James said and Alex glared at him.

"Who wants cookies? I'm famished." I said standing up, I noticed both of them didn't reply and they were both staring at me.

"What?" I asked confused.

"You are famished?" Alex asked

"Yeah, I'm going to get cookies, would you like some?" I asked again

"Tracy, we finished eating barely 20 minutes ago, Micheal and Michelle couldn't finish their Reuben sandwich and you ate it!"

"Really?, I felt we ate hours ago, I'm famished today."

"Well, I have to get going, I need to take care of some things," James said, we said our goodbyes and he left.

"You still want that cookie?" Alex asked the moment James left.

"Yeah, you?"

"No, I'm okay." He said but he followed me to the kitchen to get the cookies.

"Mum!, Your phone is ringing!" Michelle called as she entered the kitchen, Michael followed too.

"Thank you," I said collecting the phone, by that time the phone had stopped ringing and I had a missed call from Sam, I was about to call him when he called back.

"Hey, Tracy."

"Sam, how are you doing?"

"I've been good, you?"

"Same here."

"I've wondered why I've not seen you at with for a while now, I think the last time I saw you here was two months ago, I hope nothing is wrong."

"Nothing, I've been spending time at home with my family."

"Oh, let's meet then, at the sprinklers."

"Today?" I asked

"Yeah, I hope that won't be much problem."

"Oh, um, okay I'll see you there in an hour then." We said our goodbyes and I hung up.

"Daddy, why are you frowning?" Micheal asked and I looked at Alex to see he was frowning.
