Leopold tenderly stroked her hair, "No more worries, after this baby, I'll get a vasectomy so there won't be any more surprises."
Aurelia nearly choked on her words. Was this guy seriously considering getting snipped?
"You don't have to go through all that trouble, you know? They've got male birth control pills abroad, one dose lasts three months. Just take those," she suggested.
"Sounds good to me," Leopold replied with a chuckle. "Whatever my wife says goes."
They agreed to keep the pregnancy under wraps for the safety of Aurelia and the baby, only letting Jessica in on the secret to avoid any schemes from that sneaky rat lurking in the shadows.
Aurelia was an expert at keeping secrets about her pregnancies.
In the afternoon, Skyler and the kids came home from school.
Skyler dashed up to Aurelia, bubbling with excitement, "Angel, are you going to have a baby?"
Aurelia peeled an orange and shook her head, "No baby, just a little hormonal imbalance."
"What?" Skyler and the kids echoed in unison, "There's no baby in your belly?"
"Nope." Aurelia smiled, "I'll think about having another little girl after I've mastered the secret recipe for baby-making."
"When will that be?" Nina asked, her curiosity piqued.
"Maybe by next summer, I should have it down," Aurelia teased.
Nina blinked, "Do you also have a recipe for making little brothers, like how you had Kane and William?"
Aurelia let out a laugh, "Oh yes, I have plenty of recipes up my sleeve."
Nina sighed, "I wish you could teach my mom. If she had a baby brother for me, maybe Dad wouldn't have left."
Aurelia stroked her hair, aching her heart for Nina and Mira. Divorce always hit the kids the hardest.
William sensed the seriousness and stuck out his tongue playfully, "Nah, I'd rather keep my status as is."
Leopold glanced at Aurelia and William, sensing they were up to some silent mystery but couldn't quite figure it out.
Kane, munching on a steak, chimed in, "My dad would never be worse than Uncle Arnold. If you became his son, he'd love you just like Uncle Arnold does."
William pulled a face, "When you were little, did Uncle Leopold ever play horsey and let you ride him around the backyard? Did he ever do that?"
Leopold was speechless. So was Kane.
Then William continued, "What about Christmas? Would he turn the house into Santa's icy palace and dress up as Santa Claus, arriving on a sleigh pulled by reindeer to deliver presents?"
Leopold just sat there, stunned.
And Kane just looked at William in silence.
