Raines smirked with a hint of mockery, "So Aurelia is the Achilles' heel of Leopold, huh? Just keep the pressure on that sore spot, I bet we can take him down."
Lisbeth stayed quiet, echoing Aurelia's words in her mind. It took constant vigilance to stave off evil.
Her boss had been fighting against Leopold for ages, suffering defeat after defeat but always ready for another round. Maybe it was fate, a sign that Leopold was just unbeatable. But due to stubbornness, her boss couldn't face the music.
The next day, Lisbeth paid a visit to Skyler's villa. She needed to know if Skyler's brilliance was true as it was praised in Aurelia's tales.
Pregnant and worried about the toxins in her body harming her baby, Lisbeth hoped that Skyler could detoxify her. If so, her and Raines' baby might just have a fighting chance.
Skyler was chowing down on his breakfast, gearing up for a day at the Stirling Mansion with the kids. Lately, his schedule had been packed with work by day, play by night and weekends. Today, he was set to indulge Nina and Mira in a bit of role-play, ready to don his Darth Vader.
The sight of Lisbeth didn't faze him. Angel had given him the heads-up that Lisbeth might come knocking for his detox talents.
"Lisbeth, you had your breakfast yet?" he asked, all casual-like.
"Yeah, I did," Lisbeth nodded.
Skyler handed her a bottle of fresh juice, playing dumb, "So what's up? You need my help with something?"
Lisbeth cut to the chase, "Aurelia said you're like some hotshot biologist, a real whiz who can cure any poison."
Scratching his head, Skyler played it cool, "I do alright. My thing is microbiology. You got yourself poisoned?"
In a hushed tone, Lisbeth confided, "It's a secret. Can you keep it under wraps? Don't tell anyone, Aurelia included."
Skyler vowed with mock solemnity, "You got it. Us kids are the best at keeping secrets, not you adults, always two-faced."
Lisbeth studied him, unable to peg him as either a grown-up or a kid.
