Chapter 161
“Sorry, sis!” He lowered his gaze, a shadow of sorrow over his face, “You are sick, why didn’t you tell me?”
Aurelia ruffled his hair, “It’s not a disease, just a hormonal imbalance. The doctor says I’m still young, can be treated with medicines. If worst comes to worst, I’ll have a minor surgery, it’s no big deal.”
Avery’s mood didn’t improve, compared to his sister, he felt immature.
Evelyn sipped her juice, her gaze sweeping over Aurelia and Elowen.
Are they that close? Aurelia would even share something as private as uterine fibroids with Elowen? Does she really see her as a sister–in–law?
Not far away, Leopold sensed the unusual atmosphere here, catching a few key words, he held his forehead, pretending not to hear anything!
In the afternoon, Avery, Darcy and Gary went to play paintball.
Aurelia and Jenny went to the pick–your–own farm, just picked a few cherry tomatoes, when Elowen came over, inviting her to go fishing.
Arriving at the fishing area, she found the big boss was there, along with Evelyn, sitting next to him, fishing.
Elowen dragged her to the empty spot next to him.
Aurelia was a bit awkward. Her role as a sidekick was confirmed.
It seemed the drama of the big boss and his three women was about to unfold again!
Leopold glanced at her from the corner of his eye, his expression slightly unhappy.
She forced herself to smile, “Wow, Mr. Leopold, you’ve caught a lot of fish. You’re quite the angler.”
Flattery is always effective to ease an awkward situation.
But the big boss wasn’t buying it, his face expressionless, cold as ice.
A cool breeze blew over, she shivered, quickly picked up the fishing rod and started fishing.
Better to stay silent.
Evelyn hummed inwardly, turned to Leopold with a sweet smile, “Leo, it’s Honey’s birthday tomorrow. She misses you so much. You’ll come to see her, won’t you?”
Leopold nodded slightly.
Aurelia noticed that when Leopold faced her, he was as cold as winter, but when he turned to Evelyn, he was as warm as spring.
No wonder she was his favorite, receiving all his affection.
She leaned over and whispered to Elowen, “Who is Honey?”
Elowen puffed up her cheeks in anger, “A damn horse. Leopold gave it to Megan Alcott. After she died, Evelyn took care of it.”
“Oh.” Aurelia grimaced, even the horse’s name, Honey, was filled with a sickly sweet taste of love. What a sweet pair!
“Evelyn wants to replace Megan, and the big boss sees her as a substitute for Megan, so… you know.”
Her voice was low, only audible to the two of them, each word piercing Elowen’s heart.
“Though Evelyn looks cocky now, she must feel awful when Megan was alive. She was overshadowed by Megan in every aspect of her life. Deep down, she probably wished for Megan’s demise, or else she would always live in her shadow,” Elowen said.
