Chapter 165
That evening, back in their apartment, Jolin couldn’t contain her joy.
“The more I see Arno, the more I like him. He’s not just handsome but has a great personality too. Nowadays, It’s difficult to find such a good man.”
Aurelia felt a bit awkward and shy, “Mom, Arno and I are just friends, please don’t misunderstand.”
Jolin playfully tapped her on the forehead, “If he doesn’t like you, would he come all this way to take me out just for dinner?”
Aurelia sighed deeply. Arno was nice to her because they were good friends; there was no romantic relationship between them.
Three years ago, during their trip to Willowbrook, he had taken care of her so well that she had secretly developed feelings for him, thinking he might feel the same. But it was all just a beautiful
misunderstanding.
Now, she was clear–headed, content with being his friend, and this way, she also feels relaxed and at ease.
“Mom, I can’t explain it to you clearly, but please don’t meddle in it. Don’t make things awkward between me and Arno.”
“You can handle it in your way; it’s your business. But good men are hard to come by, and if you meet one, bë sure to seize the opportunity.” Jolin advised.
Aurelia giggled, “I understand, if I ever find such a good man, he won’t escape my grasp.”
She got a glass of milk for her mother.
Jolin took a sip, her gaze falling on Aurelia’s abdomen, which startled Aurelia, prompting her to adjust her coat, saying “Mom, you’ve been on the train all day and must be tired. Get some rest.”
She tried to slip away but Jolin held her back, “You need to address your uterine fibroids soon. Schedule an appointment with a specialist at the hospital this week; I’ll go with you.”
Aurelia took a deep breath, trying to remain composed so as not to raise any suspicions.
“Didn’t I already tell you? I had a check–up last week and I consulted with the best doctor at the hospital. She’s a seasoned specialist, known for treating complex cases. After following her prescribed medication, my menstrual pain has disappeared and my blood flow is back to normal. She suggested me to come back for a follow–up in three months; by then, the fibroids might have reduced in size.”
Hearing this, Jolin didn’t press any further. “Alright, I’ll go with you next time. If it hasn’t shrunk, you should go to have a laparoscopic surgery sooner rather than later.”
Aurelia sighed in relief. But she knew that her mother would keep this close to her heart, and she wouldn’t forget it. After three months, how could she hide her pregnant belly
It was really a big headache.
In the morning, as Leopold walked into his office, he immediately asked Kevin to call Aurelia and have her come to his office right away.
Shortly, Kevin returned with the response, “Ms. Aurelia isn’t in the office; she’s gone to Cloud Lake for the shooting of Destiny’s ad today.”
Leopold’s brows furrowed and his gaze turned cold, almost freezing the air within the office.
Last night, he hadn’t slept a wink, a sense of suffocation pressing on his chest. leaving him irritate.
He took a deep breath, and managed to utter the words through gritted teeth, “Get the car ready.”
