Chapter 166
Avery looked in Arnold’s direction, “Sis, the man you need to fall in love with is over there.”
Aurelia choked slightly and gave him a glare, “Don’t make jokes like that in front of Sophie, or she might get the wrong idea.”
Avery was taken aback, “What do you mean?”
Aurelia half–covered her mouth and lowered her voice, “I heard that she’s been getting pretty close to Arnold lately. They might be secretly dating. Your jokes could make Arno awkward,.”
Avery felt as if a bolt of lightning had just struck him, hitting him on the head.
He had already considered Arnold as his brother–in–law, how could he “two–timing” like this?
“That’s impossible, it must be fake!”
He was getting a bit worked up, and raised his voice unintentionally. Aurelia quickly made a ‘shush‘ gesture.
“Keep your voice down, I don’t want Arnold hear that.”
Arnold was far away to hear, but Jolin heard it. She stood up from his chair and walked over, saying, “Avery, what’s fake?”
“We were talking about… scam phone calls.” Aurelia quickly thought of a cover story.
Jolin shrugged, “Of course, scam calls are fake. If you get such a call, hang up immediately.”
“Okay, got it.” Aurelia nodded, a sly glint in her eye.
Avery was feeling a bit down, the thought of Arnold “falling in love with someone else” and not wanting his sister anymore was more heartbreaking than going through a breakup himself.
Once the preparations were done, the shooting process began.
Aurelia and her mother retreated to the outskirts of the set.
In the distance, a tall and striking figure approached against the backlight, casting a shadow over his handsome face, exuding an unusual chill.
Aurelia caught sight of him from the corner of her eye and nearly jumped in shock.
“Mr. Leopold, what… what brings you here?”
“Just passing by.”
Leopold replied curtly, his eyes locked onto her face as though he was trying to draw her into his eyes after an extended absence.
“Oh.” Aurelia forced a smile, “Are you heading to play golf?”
The golf club was just across Cloud Lake; he was definitely heading there.
Jolin glanced at Leopold and asked, “Aurelia, who is this?”
“This is my boss, Mr. Leopold. He’s Arnold’s brother.” Aurelia introduced in a hushed tone.
Jolin immediately stood up, wearing a gracious smile. If he was Arnold’s brother, then he was Aurelia’s future brother–in–law, one big happy family!
“Mr. Leopold, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Aurelia’s mother. I never expected you to be so young; and you are truly promising. Please take care of my daughter at work.”
Leopold gave a small smile, “Aurelia is an exemplary employee at the company, and I’ve always valued her.”
Jolin quickly took the opportunity to praise her daughter, “Aurelia is diligent and capable, with a quick mind. In the future, she’ll be your right–hand person.”
Leopold’s smile deepened slightly, and his demeanor took on a bit of uncharacteristic warmth. “Please have a seat. You don’t need to be too formal. In the company, I am Aurelia’s boss, but in private, we’re friends.”
Aurelia choked on her words.
