Kevin presented a pile of documents, “These are border entry records of all infants in the last two months. We’re checking them one by one. Aaron has bribed the local smugglers to investigate illegal channels.” 

Leopold nodded slightly. Kevin understood that he needed some alone time and left. 

The night was deep. 

Leopold stood by the window, the cold wind causing his hair and thoughts to flutter. 

The room was as silent as a tomb, so quiet he could hear his own heavy breathing. It felt like he was the only person left in the world. 

He thought he didn’t love Aurelia.
