Chapter 45
“Spill the beans already!” Jenny’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, like she was about to bite into a juicy piece of gossip.
Aurelia popped a piece of orange into her mouth, lowering her voice slightly, “He’s a friend from university. He’s the only guy I’ve ever met who perfectly fits my criteria for a partner,”
As she spoke, Leopold’s grip tightened around the magazine in his hands, crumpling it in the process.
He knew exactly who she was talking about.
“How come you two never dated?” Jenny asked.
“Well, just because I was into him doesn’t mean he felt the same way about me. He’s from out of town and after he went back, we lost contact.”
Aurelia shrugged nonchalantly, “I’m the type who can easily let go. If he doesn’t like me, I’d move on without wasting my feelings.”
Jenny gave her a thumbs up, “I wish I could be like you, not getting trapped in love.”
Aurelia smirked, “Only those who truly love you are worth your time. Why bother with those who don’t? Are you a masochist or something?”
Behind her, a chilling aura began to envelop Leopold, his gaze turning frighteningly dark.
“What are you doing here, Leopold?” Elowen’s voice drifted from behind them.
He quickly closed the magazine. His stormy emotions vanished in an instant, leaving only a frosty coldness behind.
Aurelia felt a jolt run through her as she turned around to see his austere yet captivating face. She was taken aback.
When on earth did the boss sneak over here?
She had no idea.
“Mr. Leopold,” she managed a smile, greeting him before standing up, “I’m a bit tired, I’ll go rest for a bit.”
He didn’t seem to be in a good mood, his icy demeanor giving her the chills. It was best to steer clear.
Just as she reached the stairs, Elowen stopped her, “Where are you going?”
“The rest cabin upstairs, Aurelia whispered.
Elowen shot her a look, “The second floor is Mr. Leopold’s private area, didn’t you know that?”
Elowen had access to it.
-Aurelia honestly didn’t know. No wonder she hadn’t seen anyone else go up there.
“I get airsick, Mr. Leopold has allowed me to use the rest cabin.”
She quickly made up an excuse while stealing a glance at Leopold. His cold voice confirmed, “No need to explain. I approved it.”
She hastily brown–nosed, “Thanks, Mr. Leopold. We’re so lucky to have a kind boss like you.”
Then she dashed upstairs.
Elowen was flabbergasted, “Leopold, aren’t you being too kind to her? She’s just a manager, not even a top executive. What has she done to deserve such special treatment?”
Chapter 45
Leopold’s mood didn’t brighten despite the flattery. He was in a foul mood.
“My decisions are not your concern.”
With a cold retort, he left his seat.
