Skyler's mood soured, and he puffed out his cheeks like a petulant child.
[I'm suited for teaching. The kids love my classes. You're jealous of me. That's all. I'm happy now. Everyone likes me and says I'm a good kid.] Skyler retorted.
[Idiot, they're setting you up for failure, trying to distract you until you're good for nothing,] came the scathing reply.
[I call it being content with what I have. Geoffrey, stop sneaking around doing shady stuff. Make friends like I do and try to live a little.]
[Live a little? Do you mean waste away doing nothing but eating, drinking, and having fun? You're useless. I've got plans, big plans, and nobody's going to stop me. You better not help Leopold and Aurelia anymore, or you'll feel sorry.]
[I will help them, and if you dare hurt Angel and Leopold, I won't go easy on you, either. I'm not afraid.]
Standing on tiptoes beside Skyler, William peeked at his phone, and then he shouted in anger, "Don't listen to him, Skyler. He's just jealous and wants you to live in his miserable shadow with no friends, no joy, just like him, a heartless villain."
Skyler nodded emphatically. "I know better than to fall for his tricks."
Aurelia brought out a platter of assorted fruits. "Time for a break, kids. Fruit's up."
Nina tugged at Skyler's sleeve. "Skyler, I want to hear another story. Can you do another session later?"
"We all do," echoed William, Kane, and Mira in unison.
Scratching his head, Skyler couldn't help but beam with pride. He had a knack for teaching. Why hadn't he realized it before?
"Sure."
Seeing the confident smile on his face, Aurelia felt a surge of happiness. She had scheduled his interview on Monday, and she and Arnold would accompany him. Kane and William would also come along for a campus tour.
Skyler bit into a piece of apple, his mind racing ahead to the interview. He felt a bit anxious.
