Chapter 436 How Did They End Up Together Again
“I sought out Howard for it.”
Daphne let out a sigh of relief. “I see. I was afraid you had actually given yourself up for me. If that were true, I would’ve been terribly guilty.
“Don’t overthink it. Since you’ve helped me a lot, I’ll definitely help you in overcoming your current predicament.”
Daphne was naturally optimistic, so her spirits didn’t stay low for long. Remembering that she was still on the phone with Lysander, she said, “Lysander, I won’t be able to pay you back anytime soon, but I can at least treat you to a meal. Consider it a token of my appreciation.”
“Sure, send me the address,” Lysander responded. She had been worried about Daphne for almost a day, and at this point, she wanted to see her to confirm her condition.
The place Daphne chose to host was an exquisite, private dining restaurant that looked quite sophisticated at first glance.
Upon arriving at the location. Lysander felt a wave of familiarity wash over her.
Wasn’t this the same location where Josiah nearly drowned that old lecher in the fish pond last time….
From behind the partition, Daphne, upon spotting Lysander from afar, immediately waved at her with great enthusiasm. “Lysander, over here.”
“You’re here,” Lysander said with a smile as she walked over to take a seat. “Why did you choose this place? It’s quite far.”
Daphne’s eyes were tinged with redness. Her once plump cheeks had noticeably thinned down from before. Yet, her smile remained as radiant as ever. “Of course, I have to choose a good place to treat you to a meal. Don’t be fooled by the fancy surroundings here. The food is even better. It’s just a shame that I couldn’t secure a private room.”
The private dining restaurant, which operated on a reservation system, had a limited number of guests each day. Yet, her impromptu invitation to Lysander for dinner was fortunate enough to secure a table by the window.
Lysander didn’t mind at all. “I think this hall is quite nice, not too crowded, and we can even enjoy the view of the fish pond in the courtyard.”
Daphne nodded repeatedly, her eyes growing even redder, on the verge of tears. “You’re so good to me. I don’t even know what to do,” she confessed. “By the way, I didn’t intentionally ignore your calls today. I was out meeting my dad’s old friends. But none of these old guys, who would usually call my dad their close buddy, were willing to lend a hand when we really needed help.”
Lysander handed her a tissue, gently comforting her, “People’s feelings can be fickle. Don’t take it too much to heart.”
“Indeed. I wouldn’t stoop to their level,” Daphne said, wiping away her tears. Then, her concern returned to Lysander. “By the way, I checked the transfer records. The last sum of money came from the Thorne family’s company. Lysander, I remember that Josiah has always been in charge there. Did he say
anything?”

She was afraid that Josiah would put Lysander in a difficult position.
Lysander sighed softly. “No, I didn’t even get to see him. But he won’t be in charge of the Thorne family’s business anymore. He has returned the management rights.”
Daphne’s eyes widened in surprise. “He just let it like that?!”
go
True as that may be, Daphne couldn’t help but worry for her. “But isn’t this too abrupt? He should at least give the Thome family some time to adjust. Right now, Mrs. Thorne is seriously ill, and Mr. Thorne doesn’t trust anyone else to take care of her. He’s been staying at the hospital by her side. Who in the Thome family has the time to manage the company?
very
Lysander was absentmindedly looking at the menu, expressing her melancholy, “I was pondering this issue on my way here. Hiring a professional manager isn’t a bad idea, but finding someone competent and trustworthy isn’t exactly a walk in the park.”
Daphne instantly put aside her own worries. “What will happen to the company in the future? It takes time find a reliable person to manage it, and it’s not guaranteed that we can find one. In the meantime, will you take over?”
Lysander hesitated for a moment, then nodded, saying, “I guess I have no choice but to give it a try. After all. I’ve taken money from the Thorne family, so it wouldn’t be right to just abandon everything. That would be too heartless.”
“Forget it,” Daphne said, shaking her head vigorously. She waved her hands dismissively. “If I go, I’m afraid I might just mess things up for you. Don’t you know me by now? I’m probably even worse than you.”
Before the incident at Everhart Corporation, she had always been a sheltered, pampered daughter, oblivious to the world outside her window. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have been so panicked, like a headless chicken.

Update pls~...
Why no update ???...
Chapters 692 693 ans 694 are impossible to read. Not sure if there was an issue with translation.but the words do not make sense..impossible to follow story line...
I cant get over the fact that the writer is trying to show as if the male lead has committed a grave sin. First he didnt know she was pregnant because she never told him. Second right from the start she never communicated anything. She was unbothered even during her marriage. I am not saying the male lead is great but atleast he seems like a human with emotions unlike her. And there is no context for why she is so emotionless....
The female lead is not charming but an unbothered b word, there is a very big difference. There is no point of extending this story at all because even if you write 1000+ chapters at 1001 the male lead would still be doing everything for her and she wouldnt bat an eye even if someone killed him. I mean honestly either the start should have been written better where we do understand that she was deeply affected because of her divorce or just STOPPPPP. Even for fiction it is annoying....
