Chapter 451 Cold Blood
Lysander blinked subtly, her lashes perfectly concealing the emotions in her eyes. “It seems you still don’t understand,” she said. “I thought this concept was straightforward enough for you to grasp.”
Josiah’s heart clenched. “How should I interpret this?”
“I was in pain, simply because I was betrayed by someone I had always trusted,” Lysander explained, fearing he might not understand. She even gave him an example, “What would you do if Ms. Collins betrayed Guerra Group’s business secrets?”
Josiah was instantly filled with rage. “How can these issues be lumped together?”
“The feelings were actually the same.”
Josiah’s eyes were rimmed with red, his frustration making him look more like he’d been hit where it hurt. “Do you truly not understand, Lysander?” he asked again. “If it was not me but another man, just as gentle and considerate, who married you back then, would you be intimate with him?”
Lysander furrowed her brows. “Isn’t marital intimacy part of the marital obligations?”
Josiah laughed. “Obligation?”
“Since I was married, and I was quite content with my marital status at the time, so naturally, I was willing to maintain that marriage relationship.”
Under the moonlight, her exquisite features appeared particularly aloof.
Josiah tried to keep his emotions in check, but his gaze turned especially icy. Unable to suppress the resentment welling up within him any longer, he spat out, “Lysander, has anyone ever told you that you’re nothing but a cold–blooded creature?”
“You”
Unexpectedly, Josiah couldn’t hold back any longer. He gazed deeply at Lysander, his eyes filled with complex emotions. His thin lips, previously held tight, began to quiver as if he had more to say.
Lysander patiently waited for him to speak.
In the end, Josiah had reached his limit with her unyielding stubbornness. He stormed off, making sure to slam the newly locked door behind him, leaving behind a resounding echo.
Once again, the door was slammed shut behind him.
However, in the end, he didn’t mention how much money was spent on the window and the artificial flowers today.
After that day, Lysander spent quite a while without stepping out of the house, choosing instead to stay home and rest both body and mind.
Daphne, tied up at the Everhart residence, couldn’t temporarily make it over to visit her. Undeterred, she made a video call to Lysander every day without fail, fearing she might encounter danger again.
Lysander felt a warmth mixed with a touch of helplessness. “I’m an adult,” she said, “Not some helpless.

Daphne argued passionately, “Does being an adult mean you’re immune to danger? Look at your hands, and the mark on your chest. Whoever did this to you was incredibly cruel. It must have hurt so much back then!”
Lysander seemed lost in thought. “I suppose he got what he deserved in the end.”
The police had called her to update her on the thief’s situation. After undergoing surgery, his life was saved, but the injuries were severe. He would need to stay in the hospital for at least two to three months.
Daphne still felt unsatisfied. “He deserved it!” she retorted.
After scolding the thief, she didn’t forget to continue expressing her concern for Lysander, “You should to the hospital for another check–up. Have them examine everything, even your internal organs. What if you have internal injuries?”
Lysander couldn’t help but laugh. “Don’t worry,” she said. “It’s just a superficial wound that looks severe. I’m a doctor myself, I don’t need to trouble the hospital. Also, is Howard constantly at the hospital? I don’t want him to know about this.”
Daphne conceded that she was right, propping her chin on the other side of the camera and saying. “Indeed, if you’re confident, resting at home should be just as good. By the way, has Adrian visited you recently? He only told me he’s been taking care of White Coat and surprisingly, he doesn’t know about
your current situation.”
Lysander simply switched the topic. “Enough about me. How are things going on your end?”
“Ah!” Daphne heaved a heavy sigh. “Thanks to you, the company didn’t have to go bankrupt and we’ve paid off the debts. However, our cash flow is still broken. We absolutely need an investment to keep going. But we can’t and dare not rely on the bank anymore. They simply won’t lend us any money.”
Despite her worries, Daphne was far from hopeless. She was eager to give it a shot and said, “Let’s try to find some investors. Everhart Corporation may be down, but we’re not out. I refuse to believe that no one will recognize its potential.”
“Don’t worry,” Lysander reassured. “I’ve learned from my past mistakes. Now, I’m always on high alert, no matter what I’m doing.”
Lysander took the opportunity to
end the conversation. “You should probably take thatcall first.”
Lysander got up and went to the bathroom. She stood in front of the mirror, scrutinizing her reflection. Her skin was on the fairer side, and any minor bumps or bruises would stand out more on her than on others. These blue and purple marks were even more noticeable.

Update pls~...
Why no update ???...
Chapters 692 693 ans 694 are impossible to read. Not sure if there was an issue with translation.but the words do not make sense..impossible to follow story line...
I cant get over the fact that the writer is trying to show as if the male lead has committed a grave sin. First he didnt know she was pregnant because she never told him. Second right from the start she never communicated anything. She was unbothered even during her marriage. I am not saying the male lead is great but atleast he seems like a human with emotions unlike her. And there is no context for why she is so emotionless....
The female lead is not charming but an unbothered b word, there is a very big difference. There is no point of extending this story at all because even if you write 1000+ chapters at 1001 the male lead would still be doing everything for her and she wouldnt bat an eye even if someone killed him. I mean honestly either the start should have been written better where we do understand that she was deeply affected because of her divorce or just STOPPPPP. Even for fiction it is annoying....
