The Charming Ex–Wife
Chapter 633 A Farewell Is Inevitable
Finished
Lysander took the lighter and candle handed over by Josiah. After lighting them, she said a silent prayer.
In the end, it was Josiah who helped her place the candle before the mourning portrait.
The mourning hall was so quiet that not a sound could be heard. Even the staff, mindful of the bereaved family’s feelings, were nowhere to be seen in the area. As a result, the sound of the wheelchair moving across the floor echoed conspicuously.
After completing the necessary procedures, Howard pushed Molly, who was in a wheelchair, over to see Lysander. They were deeply concerned about their daughter who had suffered such a blow.
Lysander maintained her politeness as she expressed her gratitude to them. “Thank you all for doing so much for my dad. These are things that I should have taken care of myself.”
When Lysander thought about Maverick’s affairs being handled by Howard, she was filled with gratitude. But beneath it all, she was overwhelmed with self–reproach. She should have been stronger sooner.
Molly could see the internal agony she was going through. Her eyes were red as she gently consoled her, “If your dad were still here, he certainly wouldn’t want to see you tormented by his affairs. Besides, we as a couple owe him a great deal. Doing these things for him now is merely a small consolation.”
“Yeah.” Howard also looked upset, echoing his wife’s sentiments. “We thought we could gain a friend in each other, but we didn’t expect him to…”
He let out a long sigh, his gaze toward Lysander filled with worry and heartache.
They had all witnessed the depth of her affection for Maverick. Now that Maverick had left so abruptly, they were left wondering about what she would do in the future.
Upon receiving the distressing news, Molly, whose health had been recently improving, experienced a significant deterioration. Now, she had to rely on a wheelchair for mobility.
Lysander stood before them, listening in silence, unable to utter a single word.
Right then, the staff member at the funeral home approached thent and said, “All the preparations have been made. If the farewells have been said, I will arrange for the cremation. One family member can come with me, and the rest should wait outside.”
Everyone, including Josiah, turned their attention to Lysander.
Lysander hadn’t eaten a bite. Even though she tried to put on a brave face, she still looked as frail as if a gust of wind could knock her down. She looked at the door behind the staff. Her feet felt rooted to the spot, unable to move.
Does that mean if I don’t go in, I won’t have to say goodbye to Dad?
Lysander didn’t want to say goodbye to Maverick.
Josiah came to her side, gently taking hold of her trembling hand.
The day wasn’t particularly cold, and the sunlight outside was even quite brilliant. However, her hands were deathly cold, practically devoid of any warmth when touched.

With a fear of startling Lysander, Josiah gently asked her, “Should I go?”
Finished
He was worried that Lysander might carry psychological burdens in the future, so he made a point to offer her some comforting words.
The staff, having witnessed countless scenes of heart–wrenching goodbyes, remained understanding upon seeing this situation. They didn’t rush them; instead, they silently stood by, patiently waiting for the family to make their decision.
Lysander had once learned about the process of cremation, aware that this farewell meant she would never have the chance to see Maverick again. Despite the waves of dizziness threatening to overwhelm her, she said, “No, I’ll go myself. I want to accompany my dad for this last journey.”
Josiah had anticipated her response long ago, so he quickly nodded. “All right, then let me help you over
there.”
Lysander took a few steps, then suddenly stopped. “Where is the lounge? I need to inform my mom and sister.”
Howard hurriedly responded, “I just came from the lounge. Your mom hasn’t woken up yet, and your sister is with her. You go in first. I’ll let them know.”
“All right, thank you.” Lysander managed to nod, albeit reluctantly. She was so drained that she couldn’t even muster an expression.
Josiah looked at her anxiously, fearing that she might suddenly and completely break down without any warning.
The impact this time was simply too overwhelming. He didn’t dare to grip her hand too tightly as he supported her, for fear she would shatter under the pressure.
Lysander seemed reflective as she said, “I’m not sure if my mom and sister have the courage to face this moment, but if they wish to hold onto some memories, I at least want to ensure he departs peacefully.”
This room, used for holding vigil over the deceased, was significantly smaller and darker than the mourning hall outside, requiring artificial light even in broad daylight to see anything-
Maverick had already been assisted by the staff in changing into his familiar everyday clothes. Laura had brought them, insisting that he take them with him to the next world.
As Lysander gazed upon her father, lying peacefully in the casket, she was suddenly struck by a wave of unfamiliarity.
Maverick was always the restless type. Even on his days off from work, he would busy himself around the house, helping Laura with the chores or fixing and cleaning household appliances and pipes. If not, he would be found downstairs, engaging in a game of chess over a cup of coffee with Aron from the neighboring building.
How could such a person suddenly just lay there, motionless?
Josiah observed the abnormal flush creeping onto Lysander’s pale face. Fearing that she might be suppressing her emotions, he/gently suggested, “I can wait outside if you want. If there’s something on your mind, feel free to share it with Mr. Maverick at your own pace.”
“No need.” Lysander said, her voice hoarse. “These past few days, all I’ve done is cry and sleep. I’ve run out.

company.
Death is an insurmountable chasm, and even though she was Maverick’s daughter, she could only accompany him until this moment.

Update pls~...
Why no update ???...
Chapters 692 693 ans 694 are impossible to read. Not sure if there was an issue with translation.but the words do not make sense..impossible to follow story line...
I cant get over the fact that the writer is trying to show as if the male lead has committed a grave sin. First he didnt know she was pregnant because she never told him. Second right from the start she never communicated anything. She was unbothered even during her marriage. I am not saying the male lead is great but atleast he seems like a human with emotions unlike her. And there is no context for why she is so emotionless....
The female lead is not charming but an unbothered b word, there is a very big difference. There is no point of extending this story at all because even if you write 1000+ chapters at 1001 the male lead would still be doing everything for her and she wouldnt bat an eye even if someone killed him. I mean honestly either the start should have been written better where we do understand that she was deeply affected because of her divorce or just STOPPPPP. Even for fiction it is annoying....
