“I heard that it starts at seven, but I think we shouldn’t arrive so early. By the way, I was told that Winter would be there as well.” Rowena did not sound too happy about it. “I thought that little bitch would never dare show her face. She must be up to no good if she’s attending the reunion as well.”
Noelle could not help laughing when she heard Rowena’s tone. “It’s going to be fine. We’re all classmates, after all.” Despite her reassurance, Noelle knew that someone like Winter would never let Noelle get out
of the reunion unscathed.
This reminded Noelle of her university days when they ended up in the same class as Noelle had great results while Winter did badly.
Noelle remembered how Winter would always try to outdo her. Whenever Noelle did better than Winter, Noelle would end up being yelled at by Jade. Jade would always berate Noelle for embarrassing Winter.
She remembered the tone her mother had used on her when she was being berated. Noelle was young then and could not understand why her mother would treat her that way.
Not long after, Winter stopped schooling for a while to shoot overseas. That was when Noelle finally knew how it felt like to finally have a chance to breathe. The two years Winter was away were the best years of Noelle’s life. Even though Winter’s friends would occasionally give Noelle trouble, it was still the best life Noelle could ask for.
Mindy was the one who had arranged the location for the classmate reunion. She used to be their class representative and had great leadership skills. Even though she was a woman, Mindy’s capability was on par with a man. She had even been president of the student union.
Noelle heard that Mindy’s husband came from a family of bureaucrats and she led an exciting and respected life. Her husband was a prominent figure in Brookville and they were able to have the classmate reunion at The Majestic Lounge because of him. Everyone felt proud about it.
