"Annie's brother is Cody," Rowena blurted out, a note of worry in her voice. "Just taking her away like that doesn't seem right!"
Ronald gave a slight smile. "There's nothing to worry about! Ms. Scott, Ms. Saunders, thank you for handling today's situation." Ronald was unusually polite, which was a bit different from how he normally acted. He was being considerate because he knew they were Noelle's best friends.
"Oh, it's okay," Rowena said with a wave of her hand. "If everything's settled, can we head out?"
"Absolutely." Ronald grinned. "I'll have someone escort you two home!"
"No, that won't be necessary. We'll make our own way back!" Rowena might not always have the best temper, but she knew when to be polite. She understood that Ronald was treating them especially well because of Noelle. Plus, it was obvious Ronald had other things to take care of, so they did not want to bother him. "But could you tell us which hospital Noelle is in? We'd like to go see her."
"Madam is with Mr. Hoffman, so she's in good hands. If you're worried, maybe you could visit her tomorrow morning?" Ronald suggested gently, letting Rowena and Teresa know he rathered they did not visit now. "Okay then!"
After Rowena and Teresa left, someone quickly came in. "Mr. Wells, Spencer is here!"
"Oh, how fast!" Ronald raised an eyebrow. "I'll go meet him!"
Spencer was in the middle of something when he got a call from Yessica saying there was trouble. He dropped everything and hurried over. When he saw the crowd in the upstairs hall, he knew it was serious.
"Spencer, I'm here!" Yessica usually put up a strong front, but that did not mean she never got scared. Today's chaos really spooked her. When Spencer showed up, she felt a huge relief. "Spencer!"
