The Cherished Wife (Noelle and Charles) novel Chapter 315

"Okay, I'll help you. I'll make sure Annie gets the care she needs. However, Mr. Adams, you should find out what she did. The person after her isn't just anybody—it's Charles!"

Cody shot to his feet, staring at Sean in shock.

He had hoped to leverage Sean's influence and maybe even get Charles to step in and smooth things over. After all, he knew Liliana's true identity, a secret he had kept since the day he saved her life.

Years had passed, and even though Liliana was nowhere to be found, the Hoffmans, especially Charles, owed him a big favor. Cody figured that mentioning the past would surely get Charles to lend a hand. However, what he did not see coming was that Annie had managed to upset Charles himself.

Sean narrowed his eyes, a spark of cunning flickering in them.

He knew exactly what Cody was up to. A favor was a favor, and it had to be repaid. However, Sean was not like Charles. He did not like being under someone's thumb, and Cody had clearly crossed a line with him.

Sean had been hiding his feelings for someone for years, someone he could not even bring himself to talk about.

Sean's hands were ghostly white from handling bleach, giving him a chilling look. Standing up, he calmly adjusted the third button on his shirt with his long fingers.

"Mr. Adams, you might want to ask your sister why she's on Charles' bad side. He's not one to lose his temper without good reason. And the fallout... well, you've probably heard the stories," Sean said calmly.

Cody's face went white as he clenched his fists and swallowed hard. "Thanks for the heads-up, Mr. Smith." He did not know what Annie did to tick off Charles, but he sure knew about Charles's reputation.
