“You mentioned earlier that you had something to show me?” Charles interrupted Sean. “Give it to me.”
Sean flashed a harmless smile, but it gave off a strange vibe, one that made Noelle and Rowena feel like it was insidious and sly.
Sean handed Charles the video he had just recorded in the lounge. “When I went to see Noelle earlier, I stumbled upon quite the show. Take a look for yourself–it’s quite entertaining!”
Charles glanced at the video and then looked at Sean, asking, “Did she see it?”
Sensing a gaze on her, Noelle looked up and found herself staring into Charles‘ deep, stormy eyes. She gave him a puzzled look, silently mouthing, “What’s wrong?”
Charles withdrew his gaze and focused on Sean’s face, pressing him, “Well?”
“Of course not! Do you think I’m that kind of person? Rest assured, Noelle definitely didn’t see it. I made sure she left the room first,” Sean assured Charles. “I swear, there’s no way I’d let Noelle see something like this! I just filmed it on a whim, thinking it might come in handy for you someday.”
Charles shot Sean a meaningful look, one that sent a shiver down Sean’s spine. He was starting to think that coming here today might have been a mistake.
“It’s over!” Sean smirked. “I didn’t expect it to last this long!”
Sean’s voice was not loud, but Noelle still overheard him, causing her ears to flush with embarrassment. Although Rowena and Teresa also caught bits of Sean’s words, they could not make sense of them.
Seeing the calculating look on Sean’s face, they both silently vowed to keep their distance from him in the future. Meanwhile, Charles tapped the table, casting a warning glance in Sean’s direction.
At that moment, Winter appeared, having changed into a different outfit as she walked arm–in–arm with Xavier. Both of them looked radiant, as if they were truly basking in the happiness of newlyweds.
The time they had spent together was long, and with Xavier’s intense approach, Winter was a bit unsteady on her feet. She leaned heavily on Xavier, her heart full of contentment. “Xavier, I love you.”
Xavier froze for a moment. There was a complicated expression flashing across his face, but he still smiled and replied, “Winter, I love you too.”
He knew their marriage was a done deal. Though he felt a lingering resentment, thoughts of the family’s shares and Noelle’s coldness made him force himself to move on. Winter’s affection helped him reconcile with his situation.
However, Xavier’s eyes drifted to where Noelle was sitting. He noticed that Charles was with her. There was now another man at the table, one he did not recognize. Yet, this man seemed just as impressive as Charles.
Xavier clenched his fists, his whole body radiating hostility.
Winter felt his tension and followed his gaze to Noelle’s table. Seeing where Xavier was looking, she felt a surge of hatred but masked it with a gentle, gracious smile. “Xavier, what are you looking at?”
“The man sitting with Noelle…”
