"Explain yourself—what exactly is going on!" After the meeting, Joseph directly called Xavier into his office.
He shut the door and nearly slapped Xavier in frustration but restrained himself. He pointed a finger at him instead. "I might let it slide that you snuck off to Ivory Heights during your business trip, but what about the Collosus Group partnership? Didn't you say it was a sure thing?"
"It was practically guaranteed. For the past three months, I had my team working around the clock, putting together impressive data for Charles. Who could've predicted he'd pull this?
"How can Frotconn possibly compete with Lennon Group?" Xavier, too, felt a burning frustration. After his team's relentless effort over three months, they were abruptly cut out of the deal.
"Dad, didn't you say that Sir Hoffman already promised to give Frotconn this opportunity?"
"Yes, Sir Hoffman did agree, but that damn Charles didn't!" Joseph seethed as he clenched his teeth. "I don't know what Charles is up to. We had an agreement to compete fairly, but then he goes and pre-selects a partner."
"So, what do we do now?"
"What else can we do? The priority is to find Charles. You go talk to him, and I'll go see Sir Hoffman. I want to hear what he has to say!" Joseph refused to believe it.
He had once saved someone from the Hoffmans, and they owed him a life debt. Since Maxwell had promised them, how dare Charles go back on it?
"Alright, I'll go to Collosus Group now and get some answers from Charles. Dad, are you heading to see Sir Hoffman now?"
"No rush. You go gauge Charles' stance first. I'll follow up after."
…
At Collosus Group, Xavier found his usual ease of access disrupted. Without an appointment, he could not directly see Charles.
