Noelle's cheeks flushed with a rosy tint, her heart fluttering with sweetness. She felt as if Charles's words were true—that in his world, she was the only one on his list.
Half an hour later, they were back at the airport, and Charles was dressed to the nines, a stark contrast to his usual casual demeanor.
However, their arrival was quickly followed by Sean's unexpected appearance, which caught Noelle off guard. "Mr. Smith, what brings you here?" she asked, then turned to Charles. "Are you two together?"
Charles shot Sean a cool, sideways glance. "And why are you here?"
Sean arched an eyebrow, a playful glint in his eye as he clapped Charles on the shoulder. "What, I can't come if you can?" He grinned at Noelle and nodded. "Mrs. Hoffman, good to see you!"
"Hello!" Noelle greeted with a polite nod. "Looks like you're both here for the same person, but..."
Sean cut her off with a mischievous grin. "No 'buts.' You'll find out soon enough who we're here for." He teased Charles, "Not very slick, buddy—sneaking over here without me and Peter knowing."
"So, what about you? Sneaking over here without telling me?" Charles, hand casually in his pocket, shot Sean a cool look.
Noelle had been listening in for a bit and was starting to get the lay of the land with that group. It looked like Charles and Sean were old buddies, and even Peter seemed to be in the loop. They were all there to meet the same guy? "This Mr. Fischer you're talking about?"
