She never imagined Janet could be so reckless or that her own son could be so callous, driving without a second thought for Janet's safety. Luckily, Janet had been at the side of the car, not in front of it.

Had Janet been in front of the car, she might have been hit and thrown into the air.

"Janet, are you okay?"

"Aunt, it hurts so much!" Janet clung to Clarisse, tears streaming down her face. "It hurts, Aunt. Why would Charles do this to me? He's found someone else. He's got another girl. Aunt, I can't stand it! Charles belongs to me. How could he just run me over? He had a woman in his car just now. I know he's with someone else."

"There, there. Don't cry, Janet. I'm here for you, and Charles has really crossed the line this time. How could he treat you like that?" Clarisse was deeply disappointed by Charles's behavior.

He did not want to return to the Hoffman family after Clarisse and Janet's arrival. In the past, he might have been reluctant, but he would still show up there and then. However, now, he did not want to come at all. He would not have even considered it if it were not for dropping Nancy off at home.

Clarisse's antics and schemes kept blowing Charles's mind. Every time he thought he had her figured out, she would do something even more crazy and then act like it was everyone else's fault but hers.
